The Selus hunting area is Tanzania's largest national nature park, inhabited by thousands of rare animals, there are vast grasslands, cheetahs and antelopes chasing and running here, hippos in the lake leisurely bathing, giraffes walking on the grassland like a model, Everything is so harmonious and natural, full of life vitality.

The hunting area is home to a tree called "Mionbo" that is resistant to fire and can survive tenaciously after fires, and is the main vegetation in the area. There are two main vegetation types in the no-hunting area: the eastern region (17[%]) is mainly forested grassland, and the western region (about 75[%]) is deciduous forest, including plants such as the genus Short-capped, the genus violet and the genus Windcarp which is believed to have only maintained in high temperatures. Some areas are also covered with dense bushes and forests watered by riverbeds and groundwater. At least 2,000 species of plants are recorded in the no-hunting area, but more species are likely to be found in remote forests in the south.

The hunting area ranges from 100 meters northeast to 1200 meters southwest of the area; it is also part of the Selus ecosystem, which includes the Mikumi National Park and the Kilombero Valley hunting control area. The no-hunting zone drains the Rufigi and its tributaries, such as the Luvegu River, Kilombero River, Grand Ruaja River, Luhumbero River and Mbarangandu (the only permanent river).
