Museo Maritimo de Ushuaia

if you may have spare time after shopping and outdoor activity, it is a good option to visit the museum, a former prison. it provides exhibits of history of Ushuaia and expeditions of exploring Antarctica. there are lots of small rooms as gallery of pictures and sculptures. there is a shop with lots of souvenirs and T-shirt and jackets.

The museum’s exhibitions can be basically divided into three themes: modern art, prison in Ushuaia and Antarctica. I didn’t like modern art because I wasn’t interested in modern art. I found the part about prison life interesting. However, by far the best and most interesting section I find is the exhibition about Antarctic explorers. The exhibits occupy a whole floor, each unit paving the next theme. If you skip the first two themes and go straight to the exhibitions in Antarctica, you will find this section quite interesting, and I highly recommend it. There is also a cafe (I have not been) and several shops selling souvenir gifts. Although I didn't go all out, I was brainwashed by the constant play of English commentary.

The departure point of Antarctic tourism, this latitude of the earth is very similar to the form of Iceland, the museum is small.

The museum was previously a prison in Ushuaia. Most of the exhibitions are in old cells. The entrance offers manuals in several languages. The first part of the museum is the Maritime Museum area, where you can see models of several small boats and various pictures and information. The next part is the history of the indigenous people living in the area, and then you will come to a cell that introduces the prison. There is also a contemporary art centre, a small gift shop and a cafe (we didn't open when we visited). We spent about an hour here, but if you really do watch each exhibit carefully, it should take at least two hours.

The museum consists of three parts, the Maritime Museum, the Prison Museum, and the Art Museum, all built in a huge prison. The prison is very stylish, it is an octagonal shape, with a center in the middle, 6 channels unfolded, each channel is about 4 or 5 square meters of prison, a 10 square centimeter small window. There is a passage that still preserves the original appearance of the prison, and I can see my creeps standing coldly.
