Yuhe is part of the Tonghui River in the Yuan Dynasty in the Metropolis, Shichahai to the first three gates of the river, also known as the "Yuhe". Yuhe is a section of the Grand Canal, built by Guo Shoujing in 1293. Yuhe is mainly used for the transportation of the river, the Yuan Dynasty is called Tonghui River, and the Ming Dynasty will be renamed Yuhe. After the Ming Dynasty, the transportation gradually decayed, and the Yuhe became a long flow of inland rivers in Beijing. In 1956, the Yuhe was all changed to a dark canal, and the Yuhe disappeared from there. In 2006, the "Beijing Yuhe Historical and Cultural Restoration Project" was launched, and the ancient Yuhe River channel was restored to 480 meters 700 years ago.
