5 Things to Know Before Going to Beijing
5 Things to Know Before Going to Beijing
I look forward to winter in Beijing the most, walking through the hutongs with a smoky aroma, eating candied haws and watching people come and go in the hutongs.
1️⃣Transportation tips: Direct flight from Shanghai to Beijing, 300 yuan. Beijing has Beijing Capital Airport and Daxing Airport. The Capital Airport is closer to the city, recommended. You can reach the city area by 3 subway stations.
2️⃣Accommodation tips: I like Xicheng District, which has a very old Beijing feel. There are many quadrangles here. I live in a hutong on Yan Dai Xie Street, the feeling of an old courtyard, and I can chat with the old men when I go out in the morning. 250 yuan per night.
3️⃣Tour tips: Tiananmen, Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, Yan Dai Xie Street, Nanluoguxiang, Bird's Nest, Water Cube, Badaling Great Wall.
This route is very suitable for friends who are visiting Beijing for the first time. Tiananmen and the Forbidden City are together, and you need to queue up to enter. The Forbidden City ticket is 40 yuan.
Jingshan Park is a hillside park overlooking the panoramic view of the Forbidden City, with a good view, recommended. The ticket is 2 yuan.
Yan Dai Xie Street and Nanluoguxiang are both centuries-old historical districts. Many famous hutongs are here, where celebrities gather and there are many snacks and delicacies.
The Bird's Nest and Water Cube, take subway line 8, get off at the Olympic Sports Center, the ticket is 78 yuan.
The Badaling Great Wall, the ticket starts at 35 yuan, the Great Wall is in the suburbs, and it takes a day to visit.
4️⃣Food tips:
Recommend Baozang Roast Duck Restaurant, Liu's Restaurant, it's crispy and can be dipped in white sugar. About 200 yuan for one, and there are many Beijing special dishes.
Qixun Baizhao Hutong Cuisine, Beijing cuisine in the old hutong, retro style, recommended almond tofu. Average 100 yuan per person.
Huguo Temple Snacks, a must-visit halal snack shop in Beijing, with baked buns, pea yellow, donkey rolls, etc. Average 20 yuan per person.
5️⃣S2 train tips: The S2 train is a beautiful sightseeing train route, and it is also the most cost-effective transportation from the city to the Great Wall. The starting station is Huangtudian Station to Yanqing Station, passing through Nankou Station and Badaling Station. The round trip to the Great Wall is 14 yuan.

A snowfall in the Forbidden City, dreaming back to the Purple Forbidden City, I am looking forward not to the snow of the Forbidden City, but to your today
Dear friends! The Forbidden City in Beijing is particularly beautiful in the early snow season, like a snow-colored scroll, not only the brilliance of history, but also the legend in the snow. Let's have a romantic experience blended with history together! Come with me to the Forbidden City and feel the unique charm of the snow! 1、Snow timetable
The first snow date in Beijing is usually at the end of November to early December, but please pay attention to the weather forecast at any time.
On December 11, 2023, Beijing was covered with snow, and it snowed very seriously.
2、Best way to enter
Take the subway to Tiananmen East or Tiananmen West Station, and then enter the Forbidden City from the Temple of Heaven or Zhongshan Park to avoid congestion in the Tiananmen area.
3、Time planning
The opening hours of the Forbidden City are 08:30-16:30, try to go in the morning, because the snow melts easily during the day.
4、Itinerary suggestion
The best place to view the snow scene in the Forbidden City is near the central axis. You can choose to start from Donghuamen or Shenwumen, go to Jingshan Park, and overlook the snow scene of the Forbidden City.
5、Warm reminder
Bring touch screen gloves and a thermos cup
Shooting skills
The inner courtyard of the deep palace or the panoramic view of the Forbidden City overlooking from Jingshan Park. Use the snow scene to create exquisite photos.
6、No ticket alternative
If you have not purchased a ticket to the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Corner Tower or Jingshan Park are good alternatives. You can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Forbidden City. Red walls, yellow tiles, and snow all over the sky
The entire Forbidden City is covered in silver, slowly listening to the sound of the snow falling. This is the highest level of romance in winter.
People today do not see the moon of ancient times, the moon today once shone on ancient people
Hurry up and make an appointment with your friends to go to the palace to enjoy the snow!

Best shrimp in Beijing 🍤
I finally got a chance to try out Bubba Gump in China at the Citywalk by the entrance of universal studios in Beijing.
It’s the only Bubba Gump in mainland China and it is worth a trip. We had lunch here before entering universal with an afternoon pass and we were not disappointed.
They have shrimps as the main food and they prepare it in many different ways. This is an American chain and I’ve tried it in Miami before. The restaurant was very big and spacious. You can also get some souvenir in their shop. #goodfoods #shrimp

Frame the Buddha Incense Pavilion with the bull's horns, isn't this spot amazing?
❷Seventeen-Arch Bridge
After the winter solstice, many people stand densely to shoot the classic spot of golden light through the hole. I took a shot from the steps of the Buddha Incense Pavilion
❸Buddha Incense Pavilion
The high terrain allows for full shots from many angles, such as the Seventeen-Arch Bridge, South Lake Island, and shooting wide-angle from the west corridor of the Buddha Incense Pavilion is also great
❹Long Corridor
A very long corridor, the winding and twisting parts are more photogenic
❺Traveling in Painting
There are many good spots here, feel the unique experience of the ancient building roof under your feet, I dare say there are none elsewhere
❻Four Great Continents
Han-Tibetan architectural complex, strong ethnic atmosphere, using the hole door to shoot framed scenes is great, this place can produce many niche and popular shots

The Summer Palace is really amazing! ❗️❗️The route of the 'painting in the middle of the tour' here, even if the road is slippery, there is no need to worry. In the Summer Palace, the beauty of 'painting in the middle of the tour' is really hard to ignore. Moreover, the park is really considerate, the clean road surface, especially the towering steps and uphill, is very safe to walk.👍
Of course, in order to have more fun, I suggest everyone choose a pair of sports shoes. Although the road after the snow is a bit slippery, as long as you are careful, you can enjoy the beauty here.💕
✨About the nearest route of 'painting in the middle of the tour': Enter from the 'North Ruyi Gate', and you can arrive in about 10 minutes on foot. It saves time and is very suitable for friends who want to play easily.🕤
✨As for the classic position of 'painting in the middle of the tour', many classic positions recommended on the Internet are now sealed by iron railings, which requires some creativity and unique perspectives. You can shoot from the west end of the corridor, let the model stand below, and the photographer stand still on the high place, so that you can take a picture of the person in the painting, which is simply beautiful.💕
In addition to the highest point, you can also slowly walk down and enjoy other scenery of 'painting in the middle of the tour'.✌️

Beijing
Summer Palace.
The Summer Palace in winter, the first time to shoot after the temperature drops in winter, originally expected to see the sunset glow, but the wind is sparse and the clouds are sparse, and there is a little haze in the air. Although I didn't capture the super sunset glow as expected, I saw a beautiful sunset on the east bank of Kunming Lake. The sunset over the western mountains and the red clouds fly, although the weather is cold, people's love for the beautiful scenery is not reduced.
There are many best places to shoot the sunset glow and sunset in the Summer Palace in winter, generally on the east bank of Kunming Lake and on the Seventeen-Arch Bridge. In addition to the colorful clouds and sunset, every year in December, the Summer Palace will stage an annual grand view - the golden light through the Seventeen-Arch Bridge! During the winter solstice, the intensity of the golden light will reach its peak. At this time, there are many photographers, it is recommended to arrive early, at least one hour before sunset. The best shooting position for the golden light through the hole is on the Lake Heart Island, or you can enter from the North Palace Gate, look far away after passing through the four continents, and include the TV tower and the Seventeen-Arch Bridge in the composition.
Share this set of photos, and enjoy the sunset glow of the Summer Palace in winter together. Feel the warmth and romance of the sunset glow, the most beautiful moment in the world is at this moment.

Temple of Heaven
This is one of my favorite places that I had the possibility to visit across my trip in China, It is so wonderfully and magnificently designed that it seems out of this world. And it was probably even more many years ago when it wasn't crowded with tourists.
It looks unreal from outside and inside and resembles a vessel taking you directly to or communicating with Heaven or wherever whichever dimension or space time.
This art and display of timeless imagination seems to have been lost many decades ago. And it is beatifully conserve so that we can see this wonder and wonder about it.

Book your tickets one day in advance, search 🔍 'Beijing Tourism Distribution Center' on Xiao🍊Xu, round-trip tickets are 80. The next day, take the subway to Qianmen Subway Station, the pick-up point for the Beijing Tourism Distribution Center is opposite the E3 exit.
✨Experience sharing:
Buses depart continuously from 7-10 in the morning, and depart when full. There are return buses from 1-4 in the afternoon, which also depart continuously. Each bus from the distribution center is equipped with a tour guide, who will give a detailed introduction to the differences between Mutianyu and Badaling, as well as the recommended way to play in Mutianyu. It's very convenient to buy tickets directly on the bus, saving the need to take a shuttle bus. You can buy water on the bus, two bottles for 5 yuan, and a bottle of water on the Great Wall costs 10 yuan~
🍲Dining options:
There is a Yisonglou Restaurant at the entrance, where you can order meals. Two people ordered two dishes and two bowls of rice, and the average cost per person is just over fifty. The stir-fried meat with chestnut mushrooms is delicious!
🌿Tour suggestions:
West Line: Enemy towers No. 14-20, there is a cable car, one-way 100, round-trip 140~ The 20th enemy tower is the highest point of the open area, and the Hero Slope is here, the scenery is very beautiful~
East Line: Enemy towers No. 1-6, there are cable cars and slides, one-way 100, round-trip 140~ The terrain is relatively low and flat, the scenery is said to be slightly inferior, but the main advantage is speed and passion.
Middle Line: Enemy towers No. 6-14.
‼️The cable car and the ropeway slide are operated by two separate companies, so they can only be ordered separately~ The cable car goes up to the 14th enemy tower, the ropeway goes up to the 6th enemy tower, and the slide slides down from the 6th enemy tower. If time, physical strength and economy permit, you can choose double cable and double slide.
We chose the West Line, took the cable car up and down, climbed from No. 14 to No. 19, and it wasn't too tiring to walk and rest. The main reason is that we went to the Summer Palace, Universal, and the Forbidden City three days before climbing the Great Wall, and our feet were almost worn out, so we didn't make it to the 20th enemy tower, and only climbed to the Hero Slope. Including the time for taking pictures, the total play time is 3 hours.
We left for the return journey at three o'clock in the afternoon, arrived back in the city at around four thirty, had a roast meat skewer, and then went to see the night view of the Bird's Nest~
