Water Curtain Cave booking info
based on 633 reviewsThe title of "Asia's No. 1 Waterfall" is truly well-deserved. It is magnificent and powerful, with a massive volume of water. Although its volume is far less than that of Niagara Falls and Iguazu Falls, which I've visited and are considered among the world's top waterfalls, it surpasses them in its ethereal beauty. Furthermore, the world's longest A-type escalator served both the upper and lower sections, making it a fitting addition to the Huangguoshu Waterfall experience.
Centered around Huangguoshu Waterfall, the area features over a dozen cascading falls. The waterfall gets its name from the numerous "yellow fruit trees" (Huangguoshu) growing in the region. Surrounded by layered peaks and lush vegetation, the landscape showcases abundant gorges, karst caves, stone forests, and pillars - all hallmarks of classic karst topography.

Experience the unique charm of Huangguoshu Waterfall
1. Approach the grand waterfall
Huangguoshu Waterfall gained fame starting with the renowned Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake, and through generations of promotion, it has become a famous attraction. The waterfall features six viewing platforms that allow visitors to admire its grandeur, uniqueness, steepness, and beauty from six different angles: above, below, front, back, left, and right.

2. Experience the waterfall's cleansing embrace in Water Curtain Cave.
Step into the Water Curtain Cave and immerse yourself in the scene as crystal-clear water cascades down, creating a dreamy, fairyland-like atmosphere. For those who want to get up close to the waterfall, wearing a raincoat allows you to explore the cave with unique delight. We recommend purchasing a raincoat before entering the attraction.
3. Explore the filming locations of the 1986 version of "Journey to the West"
The Water Curtain Cave and Doupotang attractions at Huangguoshu Waterfall were filming locations for the 1986 TV series "Journey to the West." While visiting Huangguoshu Waterfall, keep an eye out for those familiar scenes from the classic series and relive the nostalgia.

Sightseeing Route
The admission ticket for Huangguoshu Waterfall includes three major attractions: Huangguoshu Waterfall, Tianxingqiao Scenic Area, and Doupotang Waterfall. The typical route for visitors is Doupotang Waterfall > Tianxingqiao Scenic Area > Huangguoshu Waterfall. The ticket is valid for two days, allowing visitors to continue their tour the next day if they can't finish in one day, but each attraction can only be visited once.
Doupotang Waterfall:
The waterfall cascades down with tremendous force, creating a spectacular and awe-inspiring sight. If you're lucky, you might even spot a beautiful rainbow. This location was also featured in the ending credits of the 1986 TV series "Journey to the West."
Tianxingqiao Scenic Area: Marvel at the magical landscape where rocks, water, trees, and caves blend together
Tianxingqiao Scenic Area boasts a magical blend of stone formations, water features, trees, and caves that will leave you in awe. Here you'll find water flowing through rocks, caves hidden within stone formations, and ancient trees growing beside caverns—nature's craftsmanship at its finest. Don't forget your camera or smartphone, as every angle here makes for extraordinary landscape photography.
Huangguoshu Waterfall: Visit the famous landmark at Huangguoshu Waterfall
Huangguoshu Waterfall is the grand finale of the tour route and the heart of the Huangguoshu scenic area. Witness the world's third-largest waterfall in all its majestic glory, where you can experience nature's awe-inspiring power and marvel at humanity's insignificance. Photography enthusiasts should bring their professional DSLR cameras to capture panoramic shots of the waterfall - the results will be truly breathtaking.

Accommodation and dining guide
Near the entrance of Huangguoshu Waterfall, you'll find various local snacks worth trying, such as sticky rice (be sure to add chili for flavor) and "love tofu." At Tianxing Bridge, many Bouyei seniors and children sell eggs, cucumbers, and boiled corn from baskets. Rest areas feature shops and stalls offering Anshun wrapped rolls and jellied noodles at reasonable prices. Nearby accommodations include Huangguoshu Hotel, Jingu Waterfall Villa, and Liangyuan Hotel. During holidays when lodging gets crowded, consider staying in downtown Anshun.

Our tour guide, Ya Ya, was fantastic! She was very responsible and enthusiastic ❤️! She told us where to go for fun and where it would be most convenient to get around. I loved her and will definitely come back again!
I'd long wanted to see the magnificent Huangguoshu Waterfall, and I was unexpectedly deeply awestruck upon first sight. The refreshing coolness emanating from the mist, the thrill of passing through the Water Curtain Cave, and the awe-inspiring roar of the water—all these elements combined to instantly erase all worries. Speaking of Tianxing Bridge and Tianxing Cave, the karst landforms and cave wonders there perfectly complement the grandeur of the waterfall, creating a feeling of wandering through a natural gallery.
1⃣Buy tickets You can buy them on the "Huangguoshu Scenic Area" WeChat account. The full ticket price is 250 yuan/person (150 yuan for tickets + 50 yuan for sightseeing bus + 50 yuan for round-trip escalator), but starting from March 1, the price is 260 yuan/person, and the peak season ticket price has increased by 10 yuan. The round-trip escalator is only used at the Great Falls, and friends with poor physical strength or bad knees are recommended to buy it. 2⃣Travel From Guiyang to Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area, the high-speed rail goes back and forth on the same day. 🚅The high-speed rail from Guiyang North to Anshun West at 9:33 am on the outbound journey is quite frequent, so you don't have to rush to buy it in advance, and buy it when you see the time to leave the scenic area. I left the scenic area 2 hours later than expected😂, and finally bought the high-speed rail from Anshun West to Guiyang North at 6:39 pm. The journey takes 30 minutes and the ticket price is 46 yuan. 🚌After exiting the high-speed railway station, follow the instructions of the staff wearing red vests and take the bus to the scenic area direct bus at the bus station, which is more formal and safer. There are many private/private scenic area direct buses at the exit, and the boarding points are closer than the bus station. Don't mistake them for them, look for the red vests! The journey takes 40 minutes and the ticket price is 22 yuan/person. 🚌After getting off the bus, walk to the scenic area ticket office and take the scenic area sightseeing bus to the corresponding scenic spot. I went to the Big Waterfall Scenic Area. 3⃣ Tour route Big Waterfall→Tianxing Bridge→Doupotang ✅Big Waterfall I bought a round-trip escalator ticket and only went to the viewing platform under the escalator. There are still some steps after getting off the escalator. It is difficult to go down the stairs with a bad knee. It still took 1.5 hours at this scenic spot😂 ✅Tianxing Bridge There is a water outage notice on the official account. Some of the landscapes along the way have indeed stopped water, but if you go deeper, including the Silver Chain Pendant Pond, there is water. Only walked the second half. After getting off the sightseeing bus, do not check the ticket to enter the scenic area. Go to the left side facing the ticket gate, go up to the second floor and walk to the end, you can see the sign for the entrance of the second half. There are many steps to the entrance of the second half, and there are more steps from the entrance of the second half to the Silver Chain Pendant Pond😭 It is too unfriendly to people with bad knees😭 It takes 2 hours for the second half one way. My time should not be of reference value to everyone, because I walk very slowly. The young lady who walked to the exit at the same time and I said that they finished in 1 hour and 10 minutes. The cable car from Silver Chain Pendant Pond to the exit was closed for maintenance. It was all stairs from there to the exit, which felt a bit like a stretch. When I was sitting on the sightseeing bus, I found that the sightseeing bus arrived at the entrance of the second half in a few minutes. At that time, I couldn't help but wonder, why there is only a sightseeing bus from the Yinlianzhui Pond to the exit, but no sightseeing bus from the exit to the Yinlianzhui Pond. I would rather run back empty than carry people. What are they thinking😭 ✅Chenpotang This waterfall is the only attraction where you can see the target waterfall without walking to the end! When walking, I suddenly saw Chenpotang Waterfall. Many tourists around me said "That's it?" after seeing the waterfall😂, indeed, after seeing the big waterfall, I came to see this one. The drop is a bit big😂 After seeing it, I returned to the exit by the same route. I didn't walk a full circle, and it took a total of 30 minutes.
July is the flood season, and the scenery is beautiful, but you must avoid the crowds. The first method is to buy a VIP ticket, so you don't have to queue up at the visitor center to wait for the bus. The VIP boarding and alighting area is also deeper into the scenic area than the ordinary ticket. The second method is to get up early and go to the visitor center to catch the first wave of buses departing at 6:30, and arrive at the Great Falls Scenic Area around 7 o'clock. It is recommended to walk along the walking path after entering the scenic area, along the mountain road opposite the waterfall, the waterfall can be appreciated from far to near, and there are not many people when you go early. After reaching the third viewing platform, go forward, the road to the Water Curtain Cave and the fourth and fifth viewing platforms is closed because of the flood season. You can walk down to the foot of the waterfall to watch and take pictures. Going back, the most labor-saving thing is to buy a 30-yuan escalator ticket and take it. It will be a little after 8 o'clock when you get back to the VIP boarding point, so you can have snacks and fruits. Go to Doupotang for 20-30 minutes, and then you can return to the visitor center at 9 o'clock to eat beef noodles, mutton noodles or Changwang noodles on the side of Xinbin Road.
The scenery here is really nice, and it is worthy of its reputation as the number one scenic spot in Guizhou. The facilities in the scenic area are complete, but the tickets are a bit expensive. A garden as big as the Summer Palace only costs 20 yuan in the off-season, and it is a royal garden. The Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area is mainly natural scenery, so the tickets are too expensive.
Finally, I came to the scenic spot in the elementary school Chinese textbook! Huangguoshu Waterfall is amazing! You can hear the rumbling sound of water from a long distance, like thunder. When you get closer, wow, the water is pouring down from the high cliff, like a moving white wall, and the splashing water mist can spray you in the face. Standing next to it in summer is as cool as turning on natural air conditioning! The stones are washed shiny by the water, and you can see a rainbow when the sun shines, just like in a painting. This waterfall is not only powerful, but also very powerful. The water rushes into the pool, and it feels like the whole mountain is shaking. It is worthy of being the largest waterfall in China. Anyone who sees it will shout: "Amazing!"
The following is a review of Huangguoshu Waterfall: Magnificent natural landscape - Large scale: Huangguoshu Waterfall is 77.8 meters high and 101 meters wide. It is one of the largest waterfalls in China and even in Asia. Its majestic momentum is shocking. The rushing river water rushes down from a high place, like the Milky Way bursting its banks, and the sound is like thunder. - Changeable forms: Waterfalls are divided into large water, medium water, and small water, and different water volumes present different landscapes. When the water is large, it can splash more than 100 meters high, and it has the title of "Silver Rain Sprinkling Golden Street"; when the water is medium, the waterfall is divided into four branches, each with its own shape; when the water is small, the four waterfalls spread across the entire rock wall. - Rich supporting landscapes: With Huangguoshu Waterfall as the main body, there are 18 waterfalls in the surrounding area, including Steep Pond, Screw Beach, Silver Chain Pendant Pond, etc., forming a huge waterfall group. In addition, there are natural landscapes such as Water Curtain Cave, Rhinoceros Pond, and Water Stone Forest, each with its own characteristics. Profound cultural heritage - Long historical records: The earliest record of Huangguoshu Waterfall can be traced back to the "Ming Yitongzhi" in the fifth year of Tianshun in the Ming Dynasty (1461). Xu Xiake, a geographer of the Ming Dynasty, visited it and wrote travel notes. After that, many chronicles of the Qing Dynasty also had relevant records. - Rich cultural heritage: The 1986 TV series "Journey to the West" was filmed here, which further enhanced the popularity of Huangguoshu Waterfall. In addition, the area where the scenic spot is located is one of the areas where ethnic minorities live in the country. The Bouyei, Miao and other ethnic minorities have profound cultural heritage, which adds a unique cultural charm to the scenic spot. Good tour experience - Diverse viewing angles: Huangguoshu Waterfall is the only waterfall in the world that can be viewed from six directions: top, bottom, left, right, front and back. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the waterfall from all directions through different locations such as the waterfall viewing pavilion and the water curtain cave. - Excellent ecological environment: The forest coverage rate in the scenic area is high, and the air contains more than 28,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter. The annual average temperature is about 16 degrees Celsius, just like a natural oxygen bar, providing tourists with a comfortable environment for sightseeing. - Complete supporting facilities: The scenic area was developed earlier and has convenient transportation. There are direct access to the Yunnan-Guizhou Railway, Zhuliu Double-track Railway, Huangguoshu Airport, National Highway 320, and Guihuang Expressway. The dining, accommodation, shopping and other facilities in the scenic area are also relatively complete, and there are also means of transportation such as scenic area vehicles to facilitate tourists to visit.
