Xikang Museum, in Zhangjiashan Park, in the house of Mingde Middle School, a key cultural relics protection unit in the country, is also the Ya'an Yucheng Museum. #Museum is so interesting #Museum Exploration #Museum
On the Qingyi River, the former Ya'an private Mingde Middle School, today the Xikang Museum, witnessed a province that has disappeared in Chinese history - Xikang Province. The former site of Mingde Middle School was listed as the eighth batch of key cultural relics protection units in the country in 2019. [Mingde Middle School] Mingde Middle School, full name "Ya'an Private Mingde Junior Middle School", is located in Zhangjiashan Park, Yucheng District, Ya'an, built in 1917, is a church school of the Chinese Christian Baptist Church. According to the museum, the first president of Mingde Middle School was Shi Mianzhi, a graduate of Columbia University in the United States, who built Mingde Middle School under his auspices, which was respected and loved by teachers and students. From 1917 to 1949, Mingde Middle School enrolled 35 classes, the most famous graduates are anti-Japanese hero "General Fei" Le Yiqin, as well as "Zuolian" writers Zhou Wen, Mosuo Princess Xiao Xuming and other talents in various industries. After the liberation of Ya'an in 1950, Mingde Middle School and Ya'an Girl Secondary School merged into Ya'an Middle School in Xikang Province, which continued as a school until the end of the 1990s. Xikang Province, a province that has disappeared from the map of China, was officially built in 1939 to its withdrawal in 1955, and Xikang Province has only existed for 16 years in history. Xikang is located on the plateau, between Tibet and Sichuan, the area is larger than the five Zhejiang provinces, with a stable and safe Tibetan, and the important strategic significance of consolidating national defense. To this day, Ya'an is still the must-pass place to go to Kangding and Xichang, connecting the two most important ethnic autonomous prefectures in Sichuan. Liu Wenhui, the chairman of Xikang Province of that year, is known as "Xikang Wang" and the younger brother of Liu Wencai, the owner of Chengdu's Daxu landowner Manor. Although it is a warlord, but the thought is enlightened, think that to govern Tibetan areas, we must develop the people's wisdom, start education, change the border to the hinterland, better bear the people behind the anti-Japanese big back, so the schools in Xikang are better than the government. Presumably this also gave Ya'an attention to education later, and protected the former site of Mingde Middle School, creating ideological and historical conditions. Today's museum displays a large number of relics from the Xikang period, including government documents, documents, folk publications, etc. The most important thing is the image materials taken here by Professor Sun Mingjing of Jinling University in the first year of Xikang Province. [Visiting feeling] From the outside, this is a typical Chinese and Western combination of modern buildings, quiet close to it, as if time passed back to the age of the storm, only the air conditioner hanging on the outside wall reminded us that this is already a new world. Times change, years flow. The former Ya'an private Mingde Junior High School has now been transformed into the Xikang Museum, and the classrooms in the past have become the exhibition halls of today. Although it has been listed as a key national cultural relics protection unit in 2019, it is regrettable that this country is heavy. When we visited, there was no funds to set up a stone monument of "national key cultural relics protection unit". In addition to the museums, visitors can learn about the lost province through documentary films and books. 1. Recommended documentary: "Century Long Lens" a disappearing province 2.
