LikeGorThe architecture of the ancient city of Khiva gives people a sense of tranquility. The buildings here are very symmetrical, as if they have traveled back to the Middle Ages. There are not many tourists here, so it is refreshing.

越走越走You can see this tower while walking around the ancient city. It is really beautiful when you see it up close. It is a tower with a story.

长脸张少侠[Ancient Khwarazm Golden Circle] 3 Kalas
The "Ancient Khwarazm Golden Circle" is traditionally known as Elliq-Qala (meaning "50 Castles"). In reality, 50 castles is just an approximate number. These castles represent numerous impenetrable fortresses built by unknown craftsmen centuries ago in the ancient Khwarazmian Empire.
Common Golden Circle tours include the Large and Small Circles. The Small Circle includes three kala sites:
① Ayaz Kala (Ayaz Qala)
② Toprak Kala (Topraq Qala)
③ Kyzyl Kala (Qizil Qala)
A chartered car tour of the three kala sites takes approximately 6 hours and costs US$40-60.
The Large Circle includes the above three plus Kirqkiz, Angqa, and Guldursun Kala. Other options are available.
Kyzyl Kala, meaning "Red Castle," was built in the 3rd century AD. This fortress, renowned for its striking red mud-brick walls, was a crucial component of the Kushan Empire's defense system. Its strategic layout embodies the art and technology of military architecture of the time, evoking the atmosphere of ancient warrior patrols. Toprak Kala, meaning "Mud Castle," dates back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD and served as a summer palace and administrative and cultural center. The murals on its walls showcase a rich tapestry of artistic creation. A stroll through this area offers a glimpse into the grand architecture and social life of the kingdom at that time. Ayaz Kala, meaning "Wind Castle," is a cluster of three castles built in the 4th century AD to defend against nomadic invaders. Set amidst the vast steppes, its magnificent landscape and architectural details bear witness to the mastery of ancient fortifications, and one can even hear the echoes of ancient war drums.

行者晓畅The Mohammed Amin Khan Madrasah was once the largest Madrasah in the ancient city of Khiva, and has now been converted into a hotel. It is difficult to book a room in the hotel, but staying there for a night is a good way to experience the culture of Khwarazm. The appearance of this Madrasah is not very special compared to other Madrasahs, so you can skip it.

yjm916From Bukhara to Khiva, the whole journey is 425 kilometers, driving for 6 hours, the charter fee is 75 US dollars, and the per capita fee is 18.75 US dollars, which is more cost-effective than taking the train. The driver took us from the B&B to the B&B, so we didn't have to toss ourselves.
During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Khiva was called the Huoxun Kingdom among the Nine Zhaowu Clans, also known as Khorezm.
There is an old proverb on the Silk Road, "I am willing to give a bag of gold just to see Khiva." I don't have gold, but I am willing to spend more time to visit this ancient city.
Khiva (English: Khiva, Uzbek: Xiva) retains the most complete city walls and residential areas, and is a specimen for studying ancient cities in Central Asia. The city is beautiful but not gorgeous enough. Large tracts of original soil reveal the wild temperament of this ancient city. Khiva was the capital of the ancient Khiva Khanate. The former Khivans were plundering, which created the largest slave market in Central Asia and was full of exotic mystery and horror.
Today's attractions in Khiva are mainly concentrated in the ancient city called Ichon Qala (we live in a homestay in this ancient city). This is not the former city of Khiva, but the inner city of Khiva where the princes and nobles live. The cross-shaped main road connecting the four gates in the east, west, south and north is lined with palaces, madrasa and mosques. The larger outer city has not been preserved, leaving only some scattered gates, mosques and palaces scattered in the urban area outside the ancient city. The Soviets once violently renovated this ancient city, giving this once declining city a new look.
At present, there is no ticket to enter the ancient city, but you have to buy a ticket to visit the palace, madrasa, mosque and the observation tower. Looking at the posture, it seems that you may have to buy a ticket to enter the ancient city in the near future. It feels that this aspect has been passed down from our side, and even surpassed it, just like the site selection of the high-speed rail station in Laos is completely from our side.

Ohun Bobo Jome Masjidi
Ohun Baba Mosque is a mosque in Urgench, the center of Khorezm Oblast. Originally built in the last century, it gradually declined over time and became outdated. In recent years, Urgench has undergone a thorough reconstruction in terms of architecture and urban planning, necessitating the construction of a new, modern mosque.
On January 28, 2017, during a working visit to Khorezm Oblast, President Mirziyoyev personally laid the foundation stone for the Ahun Baba Mosque, expressing his admiration for its beauty and comprehensiveness. In 2018, the mosque, which can accommodate 4,000 people, was dedicated on Eid al-Fitr, the day of Ramadan.
The mosque is rectangular in shape, with a majestic dome above the winter prayer hall and a 47-meter-tall minaret. The mosque's architectural structure is unique in Uzbekistan.
The mosque complex covers a total area of 3.5 hectares and can accommodate 4,000 worshippers.
In Khorezm, Akhund Baba is revered as a prophet, a saint, a protector of the poor, and a prominent figure in Sufism. Many legends and stories about Akhund's grandfather are woven into folklore. According to oral traditions among those living along the banks of the Amu Darya River today, he died in 1773 at an advanced age.
