Core Autumn Activities (Check-in by Area)
Phase 1 (Wuhan Pass - Yuehan Wharf)|Urban Life and Vintage Charm
- Autumn-only Scenery: Ginkgo Avenue (near Wuhan Pass entrance), with golden leaves in mid-November, sunlight filtering through branches casting mottled shadows, perfect for stepping on fallen leaves and taking atmospheric photos; the plane tree leaves in Riverside Park gradually turn crimson, paired with the "Wuhan Pass Clock Tower" backdrop, full of vintage vibes.
- Must-Do:
1. Stroll along the riverside trail, watch Yangtze River ships come and go, enjoy the river breeze and relax, occasionally encountering street performers singing and playing, showcasing the warmth of urban life.

Phase 2 (Yuehan Wharf - Yangtze River Second Bridge)|Natural Wildness and Stunning Sunset
- Autumn-only Scenery: Reed Marsh (mid-section of Phase 2), blooming from late October to November, with vast white reeds swaying in the wind, set against the deep blue river and the distant Yangtze River Second Bridge, every snapshot looks like a cinematic masterpiece; the riverside wetland is dotted with foxtail grass and gesang flowers, a lesser-known photo spot.

Travel Tips
- Best Time: Before 10 AM (fewer people, soft light, great for photos), and from 4 PM to 6 PM (to watch the sunset and enjoy the atmosphere).
- Outfit Suggestions: Wear autumn colors like khaki, caramel, and wine red, paired with scarves and hats for warmth and photo appeal; choose flat shoes for comfortable long walks.
- Notes: The river breeze can be strong, and autumn temperatures fluctuate, so bring a light jacket; camping must follow park rules, protect the environment, and take your trash with you; be mindful of mosquitoes when photographing in the reed marsh.
The Hankou River Beach is the most scenic and longest section of the riverfront, perfect for a leisurely stroll rather than a rushed photo op. It frequently hosts various cultural and tourism promotional events. There's a chrysanthemum exhibition currently on display, which I recommend checking out; the panoramic views are quite pleasant.
The greatest charm of the autumn scenery along the Wuhan riverfront lies in its "fusion": The fusion of colors: the gold of the ginkgo leaves, the white of the reeds, the yellow of the river, the vibrant colors of the chrysanthemums, and the blue of the sky combine to create a richly colored oil painting. The fusion of time and space: the swaying reeds carry the poetry of a thousand years, the soaring bridges bear the imprint of modern times, and the towering buildings showcase contemporary ambition—all converging here. The fusion of character: it possesses both the powerful surge of the waves and the elegant fragrance of chrysanthemums; both the masculine strength of the soaring bridges and the feminine grace of the swaying reeds. The autumn scenery along the Wuhan riverfront is not a single scene, but a magnificent scroll woven from natural wilderness, historical sedimentation, and urban prosperity. It possesses both the ancient charm of "lush reeds" and the heroic spirit of "gazing at the vast expanse of Chu sky." Six distinctive features: Golden ginkgo leaves – a romantic corridor in the city; Dancing reeds – a poetic and rustic scene by the river; Fragrant chrysanthemums – a uniquely crafted autumn feast; Rushing waves – the majestic backdrop of the Yangtze River; Bridges spanning the river – a symbol of history and power; Towering skyscrapers – the skyline of a modern city.
It's worth the experience. I went with my children. Adults are 120cm tall and children over 1.3cm tall are half price. After boarding the boat, there are many people on the deck and limited chairs. For a better experience, I upgraded the cabin and sat at the bow. There are free snacks and drinks. Adults are 88 and children are half price. The whole journey takes one hour.
This is the favorite attraction for Guangdong people when they come to Wuhan. I came here for 2 consecutive nights. I really like riding a bicycle here at night to enjoy the night view. There are many people running at night, but it doesn't prevent me from riding a bicycle and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Put on headphones and listen to your favorite music. It's so comfortable, as if the whole river beach belongs to me. When you see something beautiful, you can stop to take pictures or be in a daze. It's so comfortable. I feel that taking the ferry is much more cost-effective.
Exit from Lihuangpi Road and enter from Dongting Gate. The park does not require tickets and closes at 10 pm. There is a gate for entry and exit every few hundred meters along the river. The way out is Yanjiang Avenue. The people of Wuhan are so lucky to have such a park. It is very comfortable to walk on both sides. The night view of the Second Yangtze River Bridge is also beautiful. No matter which gate you enter from, it is very pleasant to walk around for a while. It is worth a visit.
In the winter, the reed marshes are full of dancing reed flowers, which is like snow flying all over the sky, which is very shocking and spectacular. In the huge square of Hankou River Beach, it is also a good choice to find a place sheltered from the wind to bask in the sun in the current midwinter season. While breathing fresh air, you can enjoy a sunbath, metabolism, and replenishing yang energy. Another thing is that you can walk along the riverside to watch the ships shuttling back and forth in the river and admire the high-rise buildings on the opposite bank.
[Hankou River Beach: The Waterfront Promenade of Urban Breathing] As Wuhan's most pyrotechnic city living room, Hankou River Beach perfectly stitched the Yangtze River and the city's bustling with the waterfront green belt of 2.5 kilometers. The cold coat of the flood control wall, where the cascading river view platform, swaying reed bush and the old buildings of the Republic of China, together constitute a three-dimensional picture of time and space. As night fell, the light show on both sides of the river dyed the flowing neon, and the Taiji fan of the morning exerciser still drew a melodious arc in the river breeze. Unlike the exquisite alienation of Shanghai Bund, Hankou River Beach has always maintained the unique rough feeling of the pier city - the bar converted by the boat floats guitar sound, kite vendors and coffee carts live next to the flood prevention monument. This chaotic vitality of the old and new symbiosis is just like the character of Wuhan people "unsatisfied with Zhou"
