based on 37 reviewsThe Atlantic Ocean where Australia is located is a paradise for sharks, and there are many sharks living near Shark Island off the coast of Sydney. They gather in groups on the seabed, which is very scary to watch. In addition, there are many huge giant clams on the vast seabed. This is also the birthplace of Australia's famous sea pearls. It is truly a precious place with abundant resources.

I grew up in Sydney and had never heard of this place until I did the 'Hop on Hop off Captain Cook Tour'. Spent a few hours here. The island is not big and you can walk around it in less than 15 minutes but it is right in the middle of the harbour and opposite the Rose Bay airship base, we saw many take offs and landings. It is a good place for a picnic but you need to be well equipped as there are tables and chairs but no shops, cafes or other places to buy food etc. There are toilets but they are in very basic condition. Great views of Sydney and the harbour.
We booked this trip to Shark Island for New Year's Eve and were really impressed. The view at midnight was stunning and the island somehow managed to fit nearly 800 people without feeling cramped. We saw a beautiful fireworks display and the bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. We brought our own food to save money and there was plenty of space for a picnic.
