With its harbor and historical landmarks, Steveston is a famous village in Richmond, Vancouver. The village stands at the mouth of the South Arm of the Fraser River and is a historic salmon canning location. Each year the Steveston Salmon Festival is thrown in the village. The Steveston Museum, the Britannia Heritage Shipyards and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery help visitors get a feeling for Steveston's culture and history. Steveston also has many great shops, bakeries, galleries, and restaurants. Lately, Steveston has also become an active hub for the whale watching industry, with boats bringing both tourists and locals out to the Gulf of Georgia to watch whales.
