The Bixia Temple of Mount Tai is near the Tianjie Street on the top of Dai Mountain and was first built in the Song Dynasty. However, when we arrived here, we were shocked by the scene in front of the main hall. At first glance, it looked like a marriage proposal, but in fact it was a ritual!
Bixia Temple is one of the famous Taoist temples in China. It enshrines the most respected goddess in the north - Bixia Yuanjun, the Holy Mother of Mount Tai, commonly known as "Grandma Tai". Legend has it that she blesses all living beings, especially protects women and children, and responds to every prayer. There are more than one million pilgrims every year. Bixia Temple was first built in the second year of Dazhong Xiangfu (1009) during the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty, and was rebuilt in the thirty-fifth year of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1770). The existing buildings are all in the style of the middle and late Qing Dynasty. Bixia Yuanjun is also called the Jade Girl of Mount Tai. According to Taoists, a man who has achieved enlightenment is called a Zhenren, and a woman who has achieved enlightenment is called Yuanjun. Because she wears a green dress and a red skirt, she is called Bixia Yuanjun.
Bixia Temple is the temple of Bixia Yuanjun. You can see it near the West Gate. It is also called Taishan Grandma. As the saying goes, climbing Taishan to ensure safety means worshipping Taishan Grandma. The temple is not particularly large, but I always feel that the temple in the mountains is particularly spiritual. It is worth going in to see it, especially since I missed the Dai Temple.
Bixia Temple is located at the top of Mount Tai. It is a temple dedicated to Bixia Yuanjun, the goddess of Mount Tai, and is a representative building of Taoist high mountain architecture. The whole group of buildings is majestic and orderly, with a magnificent momentum. Looking from a distance, it is surrounded by white clouds and magnificent. The temple is divided into two courtyards, the inner and outer courtyards, with the mountain gate as the boundary. The main hall of the inner courtyard enshrines the bronze statue of Bixia Yuanjun.
Bixia Temple is a holy place of the Quanzhen Sect of Taoism. It is located on the south side of the top of Mount Tai. It was first built in 1009 (the second year of Dazhong Xiangfu in the reign of Emperor Zhenzong of Song Dynasty) and was originally named Zhaozhen Temple. It was renamed Bixia Lingying Palace, also known as Bixia Lingyou Palace, from 1488 to 1505 (during the reign of Emperor Hongzhi of Ming Dynasty). It was rebuilt in 1770 (the 35th year of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty) and renamed Bixia Temple, which has been used ever since. Bixia Yuanjun, also known as the Old Mother of Mount Tai, is one of the most important beliefs of traditional folk. After thousands of years, especially after the Ming Dynasty, it has had a significant impact on the traditional culture of northern China. Bixia Temple is a group of magnificent ancient mountain buildings, consisting of twelve large buildings such as the main hall and the incense pavilion. The entire building is symmetrical with the screen wall, the South Gate, the mountain gate and the incense pavilion as the central axis, with low in the south and high in the north, progressive layer by layer, ups and downs, uneven and staggered, and a rigorous layout. It is very representative among Taoist temples, showing the scientific and exquisite architecture of the working people in ancient China and the superb wisdom.
