The Cathedral of Spell is located in the city of Spell on the Rhine River in Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany. It is the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Spell, and the Patriarchate of the Roman Catholic Church. It is built in red sandstone and is a famous symbol of Spell City. Following the destruction of the Cruny monastery in France, the Cathedral of Spell became the largest Romanesque church in the world, and was selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
