Singapore Musical Box Museum

Most importantly, the guide will listen to most of the boxes, which is a conscience compared to other museums that are only used for display! And the collection is indeed very rich, from the earliest drum music boxes, to the later discs, and the British coin-operated music boxes, everything. The most valuable collection, the most Singaporean feature is a Singapore-made music box, named "De China", that is, "from China", donated by a British collector. It is said that the collector could not separate Chinese and Southeast Asian Chinese well at that time. It was mistakenly called "from China", this music box has been on many local newspapers! There is also an "Atlantic" music box, but it was equipped on the Titanic, and later decided to change to live bands on the ship, so the box was retained. Imagine you're holding an old 3p coin to let these 100-year-old antiques sing a song for you, it's really romantic. The museum is so niche at the moment that the guide lady is very distressed, so I volunteered to help promote it~ They deserve more people to know. But I am also a little worried that if there are more people, will it change its small and beautiful characteristics? ... The fare is SGD 12 for adults and SGD 6 for students, which is definitely worth the money!

Singapore Music Box Museum has many small music boxes, we can listen to music, tour guides explain the history of boxes, play them, tourists can choose their own songs, provided there are these songs. This is a Palanaka style house, a former girls'school.

Even though I used my Rediscover vouchers this time, I will definitely revisit this museum.It really changed my opinion on what music boxes are and can be.Mr Minami, the knowledgeable guide, provided us with detailed explanations on how the music boxes worked, as well as the charming history of them. It's really interesting to see music boxes of different sizes, some being really small, and some being as huge as a jukebox (or larger).It was a very engaging and surprisingly, interactive session. Super worth your time and money.The other part of the tour that surprised me was a collection of craftsmanship products from Singapore! I'm ashamed that as a local, I have little knowledge of it. It was great to learn more about the history of music boxes, and at the very end, we got to leave the tour on a delightful note! Hint: do not bend your entrance ticket!

The streets are clean and tidy, and you can't see it's a museum outside.
