My Singapore travel guide is next level
My Singapore travel guide is next level...🇸🇬 I declare! Singapore is perfect for a short winter trip! 3–4 days is just right! You can even enjoy a summer Christmas if you visit now 🎄
-
Preparation:
1️⃣ Passport & SG Arrival Card (download the MyICA app and fill in your details 3 days in advance, then you can enjoy a smooth self-service entry)
2️⃣ SIM card: buy a data card or a 2-in-1 card with transport
3️⃣ Cash: I exchanged SGD 200 for 3 days, you can withdraw cash at the airport
4️⃣ Visa card: you can use it to pay for the subway, so you don't need to buy a subway card for SGD 5
5️⃣ Navigation app: Google Maps or Apple Maps, I found Apple Maps better, but Google Maps has restaurant ratings
-
🚇 Transport & hotel:
① You can buy an EZ-Link card at the airport (I don't recommend buying a tourist pass, it's not worth it). You can use it for the subway/bus, and the Sentosa Express.
② Singapore hotel rooms are quite small, so I recommend choosing a hotel in a convenient location. We stayed near Chinatown, which is close to the city center and Sentosa.
-
🧾 My 3-day itinerary:
DAY1️⃣: Song Fa Bak Kut Teh—Merlion Park (you can walk from Clarke Quay, passing the Old Hill Street Police Station, the scenery is great)—Gardens by the Bay (you can watch the light show in the evening)—Orchard Road (the whole street is full of Christmas spirit)
DAY2️⃣: Ya Kun Kaya Toast—Universal Studios Singapore (there were hardly any queues, we finished all the rides we wanted to try in 3 hours, the Mummy ride is a must!)—head to Sentosa at around 4 pm, Tanjong Beach is great for watching the sunset (Jay Chou's bar is closed, so check the opening times)—dinner at a beach restaurant on Sentosa
DAY3️⃣: Shopping at Singapore Airport, eating at Jumbo Seafood, Ralph Lauren is offering free Christmas photo printing~
-
🍽️ Food
① Song Fa Bak Kut Teh: delicious! There are many branches, you can choose the nearest one, and the soup is free to refill~
② Ya Kun Kaya Toast: Singapore's national breakfast, the kaya toast is very fragrant, but I didn't like the soy milk coffee, I recommend eating at VivoCity, then you can take the Sentosa Express from the 3rd floor~
③ Jumbo Seafood: the black pepper crab is super fragrant, the cereal prawns are a bit greasy, there are long queues on Orchard Road, I recommend the branch in Jewel Changi Airport, you can walk in at around 1 pm
④ Nyonya Laksa: I ate at a popular restaurant in ION B4, you can visit if you're shopping on Orchard Road
⑤ Panamericana: a super beautiful sunset restaurant! We didn't make it to Tanjong Beach, so we came to this restaurant, the scenery is amazing, and the food is great
⑥ Mr. Coconut: super delicious, if you like coconut, you must try the signature coconut smoothie
Tips:
Grab only accepts cash, taxis accept cards, and some restaurants only accept cash, so it's best to exchange some SGD in advance
The Merlion is a must-see in Singapore. It's not as majestic as you might imagine, more delicate than usual, but it's certainly photogenic against the backdrop of Marina Bay Sands. I visited in the afternoon, and the soft lighting produced beautiful photos. It's a pleasant stroll around, enjoying the sea breeze and observing the passing cruise ships and buildings on the other side. Many locals also run in the area. The only downside is that it can be quite crowded with tourists, making it difficult to find an angle to capture photos without people. If you're not pressed for time, a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, snapping a few iconic photos, and experiencing Singapore's cityscape is a great option.
Singapore🇸🇬【Merlion Park】 Merlion Park The Merlion statue is 8.6 meters tall and weighs 70 tons. It is covered with ceramic scales and continuously sprays clear water from its mouth. It was designed by the then director of the aquarium in 1964 and completed in 1972. It is one of Singapore's landmarks. One of Singapore's most famous attractions, tourists who come to Singapore will make a special trip to visit Merlion Park and take photos with the world-famous Merlion. It is recommended to understand the story behind them and increase the fun of travel.
It is very convenient to get there by subway. I would like to give you a small suggestion, which is to choose to come at night, because there is really no shade in the whole park. It is really sunny during the day. Coming at night can not only avoid the crowds of tour groups, but also appreciate different scenery. There are coffee shops and bars along the park. In addition to taking photos with the Merlion, you can have a cocktail or drink comfortably. When we went there, there was also an open-air symphony orchestra performance at night, which was great. I don’t know if it is a must-perform every night, so coming to this place at night is really a different style.
Seeing this sculpture of a water-jet merlion, we remember that Singapore was suddenly aroused. Eleven years ago, in the spring, we traveled to Malaysia, Singapore. At that time, we did not spend much time in Singapore. It left an impression like the Merlion sculpture in front of us and the water curtain film on Sentosa Island. Here we can see more fully the modern architecture of the coastal Art Center built near the sea. The huge dome building looks like the shape of durian, which is particularly striking here. As the smallest Park in Singapore, this famous Fish-Tailed lion statue is situated on the Bank of the estuary of the Singapore River. The body of the lion-head fish standing on the top of the waves is the symbol and symbol of Singapore. It is said that the origin of the Merlion is that a prince of ancient Sumatra once saw a spiritual animal in the area, much like a lion, so he named the island Lion City, and the merlion's tail shape represents that Singapore used to be a fishing port. We stayed in this place for a long time. With water as the theme, modern architecture as the foil and tourist crowds as the new trend, people can see the charm of Singapore as a tourist city. The Fish-Tailed lion sculpture sprays a continuous water column, forming a perfect combination of static and dynamic shape, and the surrounding open-air hydrophilic bleachers, allowing tourists from all over the world to take pictures of the Fish-Tailed lion and the city landscape behind it. There are many tourists sitting on the steps connecting the Merlion sculpture and the bleachers. We also have a short rest here. Wait till night comes and the lights blossom, and the surrounding high-rise buildings and the Merlion sculptures shine or dress up in the light, echoing each other brilliantly. At night, with the decorative effect of lighting, the Merlion sculpture creates a visual effect standing above the blue wave. At the moment, the Golden Sand Hotel in Binhai Bay, the Ferris Wheel and the double helix bridge connecting the two places are also beautifully decorated and deduced by lights. The final goal of our tour today is to see this modern bridge. Walking along the watery platform of Binhai Bay, the steps of the platform are scattered with tourists from many countries. They view the beautiful night scenery of skyscrapers in the modern metropolis from different angles. There are more tourists in the nearby food center stalls to taste delicious food, ready to eat and drink enough, then slowly enjoy Singapore's beautiful city nightlife. There are many more local people running and exercising on the track near the coastal bay. Rich people always pay attention to exercising because they understand that health is more important than wealth.
Merlion Park is located at the mouth of Singapore River. The famous Merlion statue is located on the banks of Singapore River. Many people know Singapore from this statue with a lion head and a fish body standing on the crest of the wave. It can be said that it is the symbol and symbol of Singapore. The park has an open-air stand where visitors can go up to take photos with the Merlion or look out over the building with a boat-shaped roof opposite, which is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, another iconic building in Singapore. In addition, you can also see the Ferris wheel in the distance and the "Big Durian" (Singapore Esplanade) next to it. The view is very wide. It can be said to be a must-see when traveling to Singapore.
The Fish-Tailed lion, a symbol of the Singapore Tourism Bureau, first appeared in 1964. The fish-body statue of the Fish-Tailed lion on the top of the waves soon became a symbol of Singapore. Every year, tourists from all over the world visit Merlion Park in Singapore to take pictures with Merlion. The design inspiration of the Merlion statue comes from the record of Malay Chronicle. In the 14th century AD, an Indonesian prince in a huge harbor encountered a storm boat drifting to this point. As soon as he landed, he saw a magical beast and his entourage told him that it was a lion. So he named the island Lion City. As for the fish tail sculpture of the statue, swimming between the waves represents not only the characteristics of Singapore from a fishing port to a commercial port, but also the ancestors of our hard-working ancestors who came to the south to survive. Fishtail Lion Park Fishtail Lion and Little Fishtail Lion originally stand beside the coastal bridge Fishtail Lion Park, is a very popular tourist attraction. On September 15, 1972, the former Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, opened the ribbon-cutting ceremony for him. Today's Merlion statue has been relocated to 120 places away from its original site, adjacent to Fulton 1. The statue of a merlion, 8.6 meters high and weighing 70 tons, was made of concrete by the late famous Singapore sculptor, Mr. Lin Langxin. Another small Fish-Tailed lion statue, 2 meters high and 3 tons heavy, is also Mr. Lin's work. The body is made of concrete, covered with ceramic scales, and the eyes are small red teacups. According to this record, Mr. Fraser Brunner designed the statue of the Merlion. The lion's head symbolizes the lion, while the fish's tail symbolizes the ancient city of Temasek. The theme of the Merlion is water, with lighting effect, creating a vivid and spectacular visual effect of the Merlion floating on the blue wave. The open space around can be used for various outdoor performances. The steps connecting the Merlion and the bleachers not only allow visitors to get close to the water, but also allow them to sit on the terraces. The stand can accommodate 300 people. Standing in the stands, visitors can take a picture with the Merlion from the front against the background of the outline of the financial center buildings in the urban areas such as Fulton Hotel and the silhouette of the seaside park. The small Merlion sits in a unique pool 28 meters behind the merlion. It also echoes the Merlion and sprays water from its mouth.
