After the establishment of Shenzhen in 1979, in order to prevent the flying dust from "choking back" the Hong Kong businessmen who had just crossed the Luohu Bridge, the municipal government decided to renovate the National Highway 107 from Shenzhen to Guangzhou. As a result, asphalt was laid on the 2.1-kilometer gravel road from Caiwuwei to Shangbu, thus giving birth to "Shennan Road" and achieving the "foundation ceremony" of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.
