If you're planning a trip to Shanghai, make sure to include Shanghai Wildlife Park in your itinerary. We've visited many zoos in Russia and Europe, but this park is the best I've ever been to. Tip: Arrive right at the opening time—fewer people, no school excursions, and you can explore everything at your own pace. We immediately purchased a package ticket: an attraction (which we skipped), lunch, and a bus ride through the inner area with wild animals. The bus ticket is purchased inside the park. The staff at the ticket counters were very helpful—everything was processed quickly and with a friendly attitude. The bus ride is impressive: animals come very close, sometimes from the "wrong" side, so be prepared to stand up to take photos. My absolute favorite—red pandas. There's about a one-and-a-half-hour queue to their enclosure, and you need to buy apples to feed them, but it's the best animal interaction experience I've ever had. However, I'm not sure if they accept UnionPay or cash—Alipay or WeChat Pay definitely work. I also marked on the map where the red pandas and lemurs are located. Another must-visit is the lemur island. They roam freely there, not in a closed enclosure. We couldn't figure out where to get food for them. The lemurs were clearly looking for something in our hands, but even without that, they are very cute, calm, and allow you to take photos and interact with them. About food: we ate at the tiger restaurant, which was included in our package. Bolognese—👍🏻, chicken with rice—👎🏻 (too many bones and skin—not quite what Europeans are used to). We arrived at 11:00—there were almost no people, but by 12:00, it was fully occupied. The itinerary that worked for us: 🔸 Arrive at opening time 🔸 Bus ride with wild animals 🔸 Early lunch 🔸 Pandas and lemurs Keep in mind: the queue for the red pandas is long, so it might be worth heading there first. Taking Line 16 to the last stop isn’t the end—you still have to transfer to a bus or shuttle. After all that hassle, we finally arrived. There were quite a few people on the weekend, but luckily the park is big enough that it didn’t feel crowded once we spread out. As soon as we entered, we turned left straight to the flamingos, snapped some super cute pink photos, then queued for the free feeding bus. We only waited 15 minutes to get on, way smoother than expected~ We arrived at noon and thought we wouldn’t finish exploring, but after an afternoon of sightseeing and playing, we checked off all the animals we wanted to see and even caught two shows. The biggest surprise was stumbling upon elephants fighting—both hilarious and stunning, truly a rare sight!
