Shangsheng New Place
Strolling around Shangsheng New Place, which used to be a navy club. Now after transformation, the charm of the century-old buildings here still remains, and the entire park is full of vitality, openness, and inclusiveness. Not only that, I can even feel a kind of "immersion" from every detail of the park, where buildings, merchants, activities, and crowds are deeply linked to create a richer experience. The former Columbia building is now the famous Niaowu Academy, where old buildings burst with new vitality, fresh in summer, cool and comfortable!
Just like those single immersive spaces, the premise of Shangsheng New Place to achieve "immersion" is that it comes with a "script": the Columbia living circle a century ago. The legendary historical stories hidden in the century-old buildings, the elegant and unique business combinations... These natural and unique features have all laid the groundwork for Shangsheng New Place to transform into an urban cultural block with a sense of immersion.
Shangsheng New Place was located in the Columbia living circle a century ago, and the stories about here may not be finished in one article. It is a microcosm of the history of the west of Shanghai a century ago, and was the residence of famous figures such as Sun Ke, the son of Mr. Sun Yat-sen, architect Wudak and his family, and British writer Ballard in Shanghai. It was also a leisure and entertainment place for American expatriates in Shanghai, where people swam and played ball; in addition, the beautiful rural scenery around it made it an ideal residence for expatriates at that time.
The existing 3 nearly century-old buildings in Shangsheng New Place - Sun Ke Villa, Columbia Country Club, Navy Club and its affiliated swimming pool were also built during this period.
The most famous is the Tiffany Blue Pool Bar, which is still very photogenic. The environment is good, but unfortunately there are not many shops, many closed, and it will be more interesting to engage in activities. It is no problem to eat and play and take pictures.
The Shangsheng Xinsuo, located on Yan'an Road, is the original Bioproducts Institute. At the beginning, it was famous because of the outdoor pool inside. . Now, there are also many restaurants + cafes, and bookstores... It’s not bad to go shopping occasionally. 😊
Check in the new Internet celebrity landmark on the new place. There are not many parking spaces. After the parking area is a large fountain, you will see the famous swimming pool and the squatter bookstore. It is said that it is still the location of Li Jiajun's company, so by the way, I took a photo with Never'family.
Well, the store in Shangshengxin that gave me the biggest surprise is located on the second floor by the Navy Club pool. Although it is quiet in one corner, the gorgeous color is strong saturated color. The impact on the oncoming brand is derived from Italy. It is still a niche brand in China. Not much. For more than 40 years, Seletti has worked hard to produce a variety of series that bring beauty and pleasure to daily life. The focus on everyday life, nostalgia, natural elements and respect for the environment has guided Seletti's vision.
Shangsheng Xinsuo, located near Yan'an Elevated Road, has convenient transportation. It is known as Shanghai Bioproducts Institute, which specializes in researching various vaccines. There are many centuries-old buildings in it, very nostalgic, including the squatter house bookstore, the original Navy Club swimming pool, etc. are very famous (introduced in another article), and enjoy a poolside meal in the corridor by the pool, which is particularly romantic and fresh. Entering from the gate, the left wall is painted with a hand-painted map and a brief introduction to the entire cultural and creative park, and the fountain square in the middle is also very beautiful.
The new exhibition "Dunhuang Wonderland" seen by Shangshengxin, the exhibition starts with the music and dance closest to life, focusing on the representative of the music and dance image - the 220th Grottoe of Mogao Grottoes, and opens a corner of the early Tang Dynasty life picture through murals. This is the first exhibition for a special cave, unlike the previous general exhibition, the exhibition can be described as "less, fine and deep", for visitors a new experience. It's just that I personally feel that in the last ring animation section, the rhythm of nearly 30 minutes is slightly slower.
A beautiful and relaxing place for a meal. There are 3 restaurants around the pool area, so you can choose what kind of cuisine you are feeling. We settled for a beef tartar and fried scallops. They were delicious, but even better was the service. When it got dark, waitresses brought out blankets for us! Such a thoughtful act that made the evening all the more memorable!
