Namdaemun Market is one of the most representative traditional markets in Seoul, with a long history of 600 years. It combines food and shopping. The same theme of shopping or food will gather in one street or alley. There are nearly 6,000 small-scale shops here that directly produce and sell products, and also wholesale and retail.
Namdaemun Market mainly sells children's clothing, women's clothing, men's clothing, fiber products, kitchen supplies, gifts, folk crafts, local products, food, imported products, daily necessities, trendy accessories and other daily necessities. 90% of the children's clothing circulation in South Korea is in Namdaemun Market, which is a good place to buy children's clothing.
In addition to mainland Korea, there are also many consumers from Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States. Namdaemun, which has a lot of transactions, does not have gorgeously decorated stores. Simple traditional market stalls and open-air stalls are mixed between modern buildings.
In the food alley of Namdaemun, you can taste kimchi, pork feet, dried fish and other Korean favorites. The alley is bustling with people, adding to the enthusiasm and vitality of Namdaemun Market.

I love this market. Basically it has everything and sells at cheap price. The ahjumma and ahjussi was very nice and willing to serve me anytime. They can speak English too. So It is recommended.
The prices of goods are both cheap and high-end. The ratio is cheap and the goods are so many that you will be dazzled. The place is very big. If you are not in a hurry, you can spend the whole day shopping and eat while shopping. There are also shop owners who can speak a little Mandarin.
Namdaemun Market has the most popular dried fish sold by an old man. The dried fish in his hand is super delicious. It is produced by an old shop that has been specializing in fish fillets for 55 years. It is made from deep-sea fish. No preservatives or pigments are added. It is a pure natural food and can be safely fed to children.
There is an alley near the Namdaemun Market where these freshly made noodles are sold. We wanted to have a bowl of noodles with meat or seafood, but the aunt from Northeast China said that the whole street here sells vegetarian noodles, so we should just have a bowl of vegetarian noodles. The noodles were quite delicious, and the aunt from Northeast China was quite enthusiastic to add kimchi and other things for us.
Namdaemun Market is huge and has a wide variety of goods. From traditional costumes to special souvenirs, it has everything. The main attraction is the rich variety of goods and the lively trading scene. It is a paradise for shopping enthusiasts.
Most of them are Koreans, simpler than Dongdaemun! There is a supermarket that looks small from the outside, but when you go in, you will find that it has 5 floors. You can buy anything you can't think of! It was a surprise. My girlfriend and I still miss that supermarket! Namdaemun is good, and the food is different from Myeongdong! Authentic! Recommended
It's a very large area, and there's a cartoon map at the entrance. It should be very lively during the day, but when we arrived, almost all the shops were closed. The alleys were narrow and dark, and they all looked like big sheds, so it was quite scary.
