Gendarmerie Nationale

The Gendarmerie Nationale is located in Saint-Tropez, on the French Riviera, on Place Blanqui. From 1879 to 2003, the building housed the Saint-Tropez Gendarmerie, witnessing the evolution of the French gendarmerie. In 2003, the building was converted into a museum.

The museum is divided into several exhibition areas. The ground floor showcases a reconstruction of a 1960s gendarmerie office, allowing visitors to glimpse into the working environment and daily life of the gendarmerie at the time. The second floor explains the history of the Saint-Tropez Gendarmerie, including its role and development within the French gendarmerie system. The museum also features a dedicated film section showcasing films related to Saint-Tropez, particularly the "Gendarmerie of Saint-Tropez" series, which explains the filming backgrounds, cast, and impact of these films on local culture.
