Xilai Ancient Town

(Sorry, I misread it.) Xilai is one of the better ancient towns in Pujiang County, Chengdu. The riverside scenery is being built. If you want to have fun here, you only need half a day. The trees here are especially beautiful, and the couple tree is worth seeing.

Xilai Ancient Town is a town with a long history and profound cultural heritage. Although it is not well-known, it has many attractions and delicacies worth seeing, allowing people to spend a pleasant time in a leisurely atmosphere. If you are traveling in Chengdu, you might as well come here to experience the different customs of western Sichuan. Xilai Ancient Town, an ancient town forgotten by time, its magnificent scenery deeply attracts everyone who comes here. The century-old street is the core of the entire ancient town. The bluestone road is flat and smooth, with shops on both sides. Red lanterns and some crops are hung under the houses. At a glance, everything looks very old, but it makes people feel very comfortable.

In this ancient town, you cannot feel any commercial atmosphere at all. It is just a pure ancient town, an ancient town in its most original form, quiet, peaceful, leisurely, without quarrels, as if it is at peace with the world.

After having dinner in Pujiang County, it took less than 20 minutes to drive to Xilai Ancient Town. Xilai is a well-known ancient town around Chengdu, more than ten kilometers away from Shixiang Lake Scenic Area, and only about 20 kilometers away from Pujiang County. Xilai Ancient Town has a history of more than 1,700 years. The ship coffins of the Warring States Period, the iron smelting of the Han Dynasty, the Linxi city walls of the Western Wei Dynasty, and the ancient tea-horse road of the Tang and Song Dynasties can still be traced; since ancient times, the wind of culture and etiquette has prevailed. Wei Liaoweng, a famous Neo-Confucianist in the Song Dynasty, once taught here. Now in the ancient town, you can still see the Wenfeng Tower, Wenfeng Street, and the ancient relics of Heshan Academy. Standing between the walls of bricks and tiles, whether under the eaves of the old house with colorful shop signs, or in the old tea shop with blue smoke curling, taste Linxi Zen tea, listen to the Zen sound outside the mountain, a column of blue smoke, see the flowing clouds and water, ethereal and free. One of the major features of Xilai Ancient Town is the Zen tea culture. Zen tea refers to the tea planted, picked, and drunk by monks in the temple. It is mainly used for offering to Buddha, entertaining guests, drinking by oneself, and giving as gifts. Xilai Ancient Temple Xilin Temple is famous for planting tea, making tea, offering tea to Buddha, entertaining guests, and gradually forming Xilai's unique Zen tea health care and tea meditation cultural tradition. Interested friends can go and taste it in person. Xilai Ancient Town preserves many Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings, and the residential houses are typical western Sichuan characteristics. The more than 200-meter-long old street is full of wooden tile houses, and the streets are flat, which can't be seen in other places. There is still a Wenfeng Tower built in the 13th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty in the town. The Wenfeng Tower is at the entrance of Xilai Ancient Town and can be seen as soon as you enter the ancient town. The tower is surrounded by opera sculptures and equipped with nine-curve seal characters, which is rare in the world. The stage in the ancient town is still playing its role today and is very lively during festivals. Compared with other ancient towns, Xilai Ancient Town has more ancient charm and has not been overdeveloped. Even the ancient houses retain the quaint historical flavor. The most amazing thing about Xilai Ancient Town is the ancient banyan trees along the river. These ancient banyan trees are distributed in the area facing the river behind the old street of the ancient town. There are 11 banyan trees about a thousand years old on the river bank, with graceful postures. The ancient banyan trees are lush and block the scorching sun in summer, so the riverside dam has become a gathering place for the people of the ancient town. Under the sky, the thousand-year-old banyan trees accompany the ancient town, and the Linxi River flows in front of you, telling the changes of the times. Another major feature of Xilai Ancient Town is the many sketchers comparable to Hongcun. They use their brushes to depict the unique beauty of the ancient town, which has become another unique landscape of the ancient town.

I went to the Spring Festival in 2018. It takes about two hours for Chengdu not to take the highway. Although not many tourists, relatively small and remote, but also retained the original flavor of the ancient town, the town has more Aboriginal residents, less business noise, more quiet ancient town in Western Sichuan. At the festival, Sichuan Opera is being performed on the ancient stage of the town, which adds to the liveliness of the town. It used to be an important town on the Tea-Horse Road. It was also one of the main battlefields for Hu Zongnan's troops and Liu Deng's army in 1949. Crossing Linxi River, not far from Chengdu Battle Exhibition Hall and Martyrs'Cemetery, it is worth visiting and hanging.
