Bailu Music Town! A fairy tale BGM just 1.5 hours from Chengdu
A European-style town hidden in the mountains, with a pointed church/rainbow street/diamond concert hall.
Accordion melodies flow on the cobblestone roads, street performers improvise around every corner, harps are played at forest campsites, and riverside bookstores are filled with musical scores. The romance here is too much to capture in nine photos!
[Town Introduction]
Bailu Music Town, also known as Bailu China-France Style Town, is modeled after the small towns of Provence, France. The architecture is in the macaron color scheme of the French style, with arched flower windows, white columns, and colorful roof tiles, revealing a gentle and delicate atmosphere everywhere. Every corner is full of romantic colors.
The town has a long history, dating back to 316 BC, witnessing the demise of the ancient Shu Kingdom. During the Qing Dynasty, descendants of Zhu Yuanzhang came here, making Bailu a missionary base. The Catholic Church, built in 1865, was later relocated due to an earthquake.
Across the Bailu River under Ginkgo Square, there used to be the "Wudian Academy", also known as the Lower Academy. After the 2008 earthquake, the surrounding buildings collapsed, but two teaching buildings stood firm, known as the "most awesome teaching buildings". Now, only a row of old walls remains of the Lower Academy, and there is also half of the China-France Friendship Bridge on the Bailu River, which is full of historical significance.
Going forward from Ginkgo Square is Bailu Old Street, which was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It was once one of the top ten ancient towns in Chengdu. After the 2008 earthquake, it was rebuilt into a western Sichuan residential area. The couplet on the arch of the old street, "Shops in the street sell three thousand kinds of goods, and millions of families read along the river," still allows people to imagine the former prosperity.

[Personal Feelings]
If you like taking pictures, you can come, but you should choose a working day; it is not recommended to come just to visit.
It is not suitable for bringing small babies who cannot walk yet, the uneven cobblestone roads are not suitable for pushing strollers, and there are many steps at some attractions.
The Sino-French Traditional Town is located in Bailu Town, Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province. It is a large-scale comprehensive tourist area integrating tourism, vacation, leisure and sightseeing. In the 5.12 Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, Bailu Town was severely damaged. The famous Shangshuyuan in Sichuan and Chongqing, the century-old Sino-French Bridge and other ancient French buildings were destroyed, which is a pity. In the post-earthquake reconstruction, Bailu Town was rebuilt with the theme of "Sino-French Traditional Town".
The buildings are very beautiful and colorful, as if you are in a fairy tale world. No tickets are required. There are many unique literary shops, coffee shops and inns, as well as a church. You can drink tea by the river and the cool breeze is very comfortable. It is a great place to bring children to play or to just sit there and do nothing!
I must say that Bailu Town is really nice. It was totally unexpected. There is such a European-style town in the valley, which is so romantic. I really suggest that Bailu Town invite Bailu girls to take a group of photos and upload some beautiful photos. The photos on Ctrip are too bad.
Miss Fan's Guide to Bailu Town Bailu Town is a scenic spot that was developed relatively early. In addition to the beautiful scenery and good air, there are several famous places. One is the Lingbao Convent (Shangshuyuan) built in the Guangxu period, one is a traditional Chinese-French town, and the other is the most famous teaching building after the 512 earthquake. In Bailu Town, you can visit all these places in one day and follow my route. ☝Scenic spot name: Bailu Town ✌Transportation method: Self-driving The route, following the Amap will be very accurate. The car stops at two places throughout the journey, one is Shangshuyuan (it is best not to park near the church, park next to the cross bridge behind the church, and the road inside Shangshuyuan is not easy to walk) and the other is European Town (there are many parking areas in the town) 🕹Address: Bailu Town Tickets: Free How to play: The first stop is Shangshuyuan. You will first pass by the Sino-French style town and drive into the mountains. Shangshuyuan was completely destroyed on 512 (only the circular staircase is the only part left). After 512, it was completely restored in its original appearance. It is worth checking in. It was not easy to build such a large transportation in such a deep mountain. The second stop is the Sino-French traditional town. Because Shangshuyuan was first built by French missionaries, a French-style European town was built in Bailu Town. The buildings are very beautiful and very suitable for taking pictures. The third stop is Xiashuyuan, which was first built in 1894. It was a church school for training junior clergy. After liberation, it was changed to a nine-year compulsory education school. The new teaching building was built firmly and did not collapse during the 512 earthquake. It is known as the best teaching building. The fourth stop is the Sino-French Friendship Bridge, which was built in 1893. In the past, you had to cross this bridge from Bailu Town to Xiashuyuan. Now only half of it is unusable and can only serve as a witness to history.
There are many delicious food in the beautiful and romantic White Deer style town, such as crispy fragrant garden cake, Li's coarse grain cake, old pig meat and so on. There is also a special recommendation of Guandu Baba. It is also a famous snack recommended by Sichuan TV station. It also has a beautiful story. Its varieties are complete, and each of them is very fragrant.
It's OK. It's close to Chengdu. I used Gaode Map this time. I didn't expect the navigation to make us cross a mountain (Pugou Road, Wanbai Road). It's a bit dangerous. It's better to take Xiaofu Road and Jianjiang Road. During the Spring Festival, there is a light festival and the ticket price is 38 yuan. This is mandatory by the government. The only drawback! Get the ticket at the tourist center, then check the ticket and get on the bus. It takes about 5 minutes to get off and walk to the scenic area. It takes about 3 hours to walk around + take pictures + have lunch. The food prices in the scenic area are very reasonable! Guandu Baba is very soft. I bought the five-in-one flavor for 3 yuan. The filling is average.
As a Chengdu native, I finally came to Bailu Town with my children. Coming from the extremely hot Chengdu, I felt very cool in Bailu Town, and the temperature was several degrees lower. It is a European-style town with not many people. Walking on the streets of the town, I felt like I was in Europe. The town is not big, and it takes about an hour to walk around. Then I went to the river to drink tea, play mahjong in the water, and take the children to play in the water, starting the authentic Chengdu leisure mode. The consumption of the entire Bailu Town is relatively low among the scenic spots near Chengdu. It is a good place to take children for a suburban tour.
Just like the name of this town, Sino-French style town, half of it is French style streets, and the other half is ancient streets and old houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is still worth a visit. If you go there in summer, you can play in the water and play water mahjong! There is also the site of the 5.12 earthquake in the town - the coolest teaching building. You can go and see it and feel this rare "miracle".
