Chikubu Island

A small island floating about 6 kilometers on the water, with a circumference of more than 2 kilometers, there are Baogan Temple and Tsukufusuma Shrine. The Benzaiten of Baoyan Temple ranks among the three Benzten in Japan. As the 30th of the 33 Kannon shrines in the Western Kingdom, there are many worshippers and it is very lively. The Tangmen building of Hogan-ji Temple is said to be the only relic of Toyotomi Hideyoshi Osaka Castle, and it is designated as a National Treasure of Japan along with the main hall of Tsukufusuma Shrine. Since ancient times, it has been revered as an island inhabited by the god of water, and it is believed to be the guardian of safe navigation. Currently, it is also known as a floating island of spiritual ground on Lake Biwa, where you can feel the water and pray.
