Gadong Night Market (Pasar Pelbagai Barangan Gadong) is the most famous and largest night market in Gadong District, Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, and the most popular nighttime destination. It's divided into food and fruit/daily necessities/souvenir areas, with designated seating areas after food purchases. It usually opens around 4 PM and stays open until around 11 PM, open year-round. However, some stalls start closing around 9 PM. Also known as the "One Brunei Dollar Night Market," many snacks start at just one Brunei dollar. There are many stalls selling fried chicken rice, as well as delicious mutton pilaf. There are also grilled fish, and the bright red grilled chicken butts are a must-try. The grilled mutton skewers are also very tasty, and the pancakes with lots of cheese and condensed milk are a personal favorite. Various drinks are available, most for just one Brunei dollar. Nasi Lemak, satay, ambuyat, and tropical durian/mango are relatively inexpensive, but tropical fruits like durian are still more expensive than in Malaysia. Note that most stalls only accept cash and smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited. If you come to Brunei, be sure to visit this place and try the local snacks.
