The view is of the backside of the dome. You can see some of Bologna, but it isn't the best view. If you are coming just for the view, save your time and euro.

Very recommendable!
When you visit the Basilica San Luca, you should also have to climb on the cups to enjoy the beautiful view you enjoy. It costs 3 Euro incl. a rental-fernail glass!
