Waihee Ridge Trail

The Waihi Ridge Trail stretches 7.2 kilometers (4.5 miles) from the north side of Maui to the northwest hinterland, passing through alpine, prairie, and shady forested areas. The trail starts at about 300 meters above sea level and starts out among guava trees, looking out to the Pacific Ocean at the 0.75 mile signpost, then passes through a forest, and then has a view of the canyon, and you will climb to about 773 meters above sea level. The top of Lanilili has a wide view from the top. From the Kahekili Highway (aka Highway 340), turn into the trail and find Camp Maluhia, not far from the trail's start, which is marked by a "NaAlaHele" sign.
