A temple on the old road of Katsuyama
Original Text
The town of Katsuyama where the old townscape remains. If you are strolling around the townscape preservation district, you will find this temple along the old highway. Many temples in Katsuyama are clustered on a hill where samurai residences remain, but this temple is lined with merchant houses.
The townscape preservation district of Katsuyama extends along the Asahikawa River, but one side is a hill with a river terrace. Daiunji Temple is on the slope. It was founded in the year of Astronomical 15 (1564) at the end of Muromachi, when Katsuyama developed as a castle town. It was destroyed by fire in the Edo period, but it was rebuilt immediately. The pine trees in the precincts are estimated to be 300 years old. It's a quiet temple.
It is a temple in the Katsuyama Townscape Preservation District. It is blended into the surrounding scenery because it is located in the retro townscape. I think it's a street that doesn't feel uncomfortable even if there is a temple. The precincts are not large, so it didn't take long to worship.
