Weekend Vibes in Madrid 🇪🇸✨
I just spent the weekend exploring Madrid and omg, this city is overflowing with vibes! 😍 There’s literally soooo much to do, and every corner is a new adventure.
Let’s spill the tea on my Madrid faves:
First stop: Mercado de San Miguel (Plaza de San Miguel, s/n, 28005 Madrid, Spain). It’s a total must-visit for foodies—think endless stalls packed with drool-worthy tapas, fresh oysters, sangria, and alllll the local treats. This place is open daily (10:00 am–midnight Sun–Wed, till 1:00 am Thu–Sat) and is always popping.
Next up, a stroll to Plaza Mayor (Plaza Mayor, 28012 Madrid, Spain)—literally Madrid’s heart and soul. The vibes here are always lively, with street performers, cute cafes, and the perfect photo ops. The energy? Chef’s kiss! 👏
The real show-stopper though: the Royal Palace of Madrid (Calle de Bailén, s/n, 28071 Madrid, Spain). This spot is straight out of a fairytale—majestic inside AND out. You gotta see the royal rooms, art, and those insane views of the city. Open daily, usually from 10:00 am–6:00 pm, so don’t miss it! 👑
For the stay, booked a cozy hostal on Gran Vía (Buenos Aires) and honestly, best decision! Right in the thick of it. Shops, restaurants, and the metro just steps away. Couldn’t be more central, so you can easily bounce between sights.
Madrid’s got that perfect mix of stunning architecture, food that slaps, and pure energy. It’s vibrant, historic, and impossible not to love. I’m already plotting my return—catch me there again soon! 💃

Stay near the Majorelle Gardens. After visiting several gardens and museums, walk from this pleasant and exquisite area to several attractions on the Djemaa El Fna Square. Visit the city's large bazaar in the old town of Marrakech. There are all kinds of people, streets, and horse-drawn carriages. After sunset, the market in the square becomes a group of food stalls. You can experience it and eat barbecue. The Moroccan breakfast is colorful and you can try it.
Compared with the bustling Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor adds a sense of laziness. When I walked into this square "courtyard" from the ancient neighborhood of Madrid, I immediately felt a unique atmosphere! There are 9 arches in the square connecting the surrounding streets and alleys.
Plaza Mayor was built in 1619. In the more than 300 years since its completion, it was damaged by fire three times and rebuilt three times. It survived until the third reconstruction in 1953. The rectangular square is 129 meters long and 94 meters wide. In the center stands the equestrian statue of Philip III who ordered the construction of the square. It is surrounded by four-story buildings with 237 balconies facing the square. The nine arched gates of the square lead to the main streets in the city center. The most ornamental building in the square, the House of Bakery, has exquisite murals on its exterior walls. The City Hall and the Tourist Service Center are both located here. Around the square and the arcades of the buildings, there are shops and restaurants lined up, and citizens and tourists are eating and eating leisurely. The stamp and coin market is open, and people come and go, bargaining, and have a great time. All over the square, street performers of all kinds are working hard to show their various talents, becoming a beautiful landscape.
On the morning of the first day in Madrid, I came to Plaza Mayor. Come here to stroll and have breakfast. There will be some clowns and artists in the square. Please be careful when talking to them. If you want to take photos with them or take pictures, you need to prepare tips. I had breakfast at Corner Cafe, which is right in Plaza Mayor. The small coffee shop was full of locals. There was only one clerk, who took orders, prepared meals, and did the cashiering. I ordered coffee, local Spanish snacks, Churros, and croissants, which were very cheap. The taste was good, and Churros tasted a bit like Chinese fried dough sticks. The Americano here is very small, and the black coffee is even smaller. If you want to drink coffee, you should go to Starbucks, where the cups are bigger ~ otherwise I can drink 5 cups in a row in the local coffee shop...haha!
Although the square is not big, the scenery is good and it is worth a visit.
