It's not that Changbai Mountain is unaffordable, but Jiaozi Snow Mountain offers better value.
🌈Attraction Features:
1⃣ Jiaozi Snow Mountain is located at the junction of Dongchuan District and Luquan County in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, and is known as the "First Mountain in Central Yunnan." Here, you can not only enjoy spectacular snow scenery in winter but also admire the azaleas covering the mountains in spring. Recently, Jiaozi Snow Mountain welcomed its first snowfall, with blue skies, white snow, rime, and a sea of clouds intertwining to create a beautiful picture. Tourists take photos, have snowball fights, and enjoy the winter fun.
2⃣ In addition to the winter snow scenery, Jiaozi Snow Mountain offers other unique views. For example, in autumn, although there are no flowers or snow, there is a boundless sea of clouds, large tree rhododendron forests, mountain streams, and waterfalls. Jiaozi Snow Mountain, with an altitude of over 4,000 meters, is only about two hours' drive from downtown Kunming, making it ideal for day trips or longer stays. Many tourists say that even in May, which is not a traditional peak tourist season, they can experience different kinds of fun, such as sudden hail and strong cold winds, but they also get to see unique scenery.
3⃣ The best time to appreciate azaleas on Jiaozi Snow Mountain is from April to the end of May. During this period, the alpine azaleas bloom brilliantly all over the mountains, becoming a major highlight of Jiaozi Snow Mountain. Walking on the mountain trails, with the bright sunshine and gentle breeze, allows you to feel the tranquility and beauty of nature.

We took a long cable car ride and then a bus up the mountain. The old man got carsick on the way up. The snow was not heavy enough on the second day of the first lunar month, so we got off the bus and took a cable car up to see the snow.
Ticket booking is convenient, no need to exchange tickets, just scan the code to enter the park. The parking lot is also very convenient. Kunming is in the monsoon season in February. When we went up the mountain from the cable car, we encountered strong winds. Fortunately, snowflakes also fell. Unfortunately, I was not well prepared and could not get to the top of the sedan chair this time.
Very good snow mountain, it is recommended to stay in the scenic area. The cable car is convenient, and there will be more people after 8:30. After getting off the cable car, it took more than 3 hours to walk to the top. The scenery is beautiful.
This is the most unpopular and most fun place in winter, bar none. This place is not as popular as Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the consumption is not as high as Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Meili Snow Mountain. Going here in winter can not only allow you to see the vast snow-capped mountains, but also allow you to find yourself here. If I were to choose, I would still choose Jiaozi Snow Mountain. The transportation may not be as convenient as that of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, but the scenery may be much better than that of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Only those who have been to this place will know what it is like to truly relax yourself.
Although the climbing process is challenging, it is worth it. When standing on the top of the mountain and looking at the magnificent scenery below, the sense of conquest arises spontaneously. The management of the scenic area is also relatively orderly, and the ticket price is reasonable. Here you can enjoy the beauty of nature and feel the fun of climbing. It is a great travel experience, highly recommended! 👍
In winter, you must keep warm. Don't climb too fast and keep a steady pace. Otherwise, even the oxygen tank can't save you from altitude sickness. Buy shoe covers and gloves in advance (the scenic area is a bit expensive). You don't need crampons (they are all artificial plank roads). Bring enough food. The first trip up in the morning will basically arrive at the ferry station around 2 pm. If you can take the cable car, don't be afraid because you are not a professional (most people really don't have the physical strength). Choose a sunny day. You will feel desperate on a snowy day. Be sure to wear short sleeves and take a photo on a sunny day. This is the minimum respect for the snow-capped mountains!
Jiaozi Snow Mountain is located in Zhuanlong Town, Luquan County, Kunming, more than 100 kilometers away from Kunming. There is a tourist line that goes directly from Kunming to the foot of the mountain, but the road conditions are not good and it takes at least 3 hours to drive. We arrived at Zhuanlong Town at the foot of the mountain one day in advance. The next morning, after driving into the scenic area, we changed to the scenic area bus and went up the winding mountain road. The bus drove for more than 20 minutes, and the altitude of the parking point had reached more than 3,500 meters, while our boarding point was only about 2,000 meters. We walked along the plank road for more than an hour, passed several scenic spots, and came to a scenic spot called Jingguaitang. This is a lawn on the hillside, one of which is a clear spring. The thousand-foot cliff in front rises from the ground, majestic and steep, across the front, with peaks and ridges, towering into the clouds. This is the Buddha Light Cliff, and the top of the sedan is still in front, higher. Following the foot of the Buddha Light Cliff, continue forward, the altitude is getting higher and higher, and it is more than 4,000 meters in sight. After walking for an hour or so, we bypassed the Foguang Cliff and came to a large lawn, about 300 to 400 meters long and wide. There were cliffs on both sides. The cliffs were thick and foggy, and the depth was unseen. Occasionally, we saw huge peaks and strange rocks, which made people's scalps numb and dared not approach. In front of us, a mountain stood horizontally, like a huge stone screen, cutting off the road ahead and connecting the sky and the earth. This is the highest peak, Jiaoding. We started to attack along the winding and steep plank road. This section of the journey was more difficult to walk. There was a section of the plank road that almost went vertically upwards, and I almost dared not look down. When we came to the ridge line, we had to climb up the slope to the top. This section of the road was also very dangerous. The plank road was narrow and only allowed one person to pass. There were cliffs on both sides, especially on the other side of the way, which was completely abyssal. After passing carefully, we finally reached the top, 4223 meters. We returned to the bottom of the Foguang Cliff by the original route and chose another way down the mountain. At this time, although Jiaoding was still shrouded in thick fog from a distance, it had become refreshing here, and the scenery of the alpine meadow was in full view. The azure sky, white clouds, clear lake water, huge rocks, and the vast grassland with countless red, yellow and purple flowers blooming everywhere. There are also lazy sheep and cattle eating grass leisurely, making bleating and mooing sounds from time to time, which is very refreshing.
On January 9, 2019, I went to Xueshan, the southern children. The first time I saw snow, I saw such beautiful and thick snow. I was so happy that it exploded. I strongly recommend that the children who had not seen snow must go there. The journey is a little far away, but it's very worthwhile. From Kunming North Bus Station to Zhuanlong Town, 38 yuan, 3.5 hours or so, there will be a charterer who will leave you a phone, accommodation and transportation after getting off. Two-day chartered bus to Xueshan can find them, transfer to Longzhen for more than 100 nights, the next day chartered bus to Xueshan back and forth 60 yuan, in the evening rush out of Kunming, they will also have the last train to Kunming to go out, it is suggested to take Cheng booked two nights in the mountainside accommodation, some very cheap, more than 70 yuan a night, get up in the morning and open the window to overlook Xueshan, very Weiwu, from Xueshan. After coming down, rest one more night and continue the journey the next day. Remember to wear earmuffs or hats, masks, leather socks (for playing with snow), oxygen cylinders (when you buy a chartered car on a snow mountain), warm babies (when you stay in a snow mountain for a long time, it will slowly cool down), sunglasses and eye drops (when you hurt your eyes by the ultraviolet reflection of snow), and apply sunscreen thicker, especially on your forehead. I came down with black forehead, tearful eyes, dropping eyedrops and sleeping one night the next day. Then I took a bus out of Kunming, and then the train went straight to Erhai, Dali.
