The severely underrated Yunnan, it feels like retirement life has already been planned out
Quaint dwellings, alleys by the canals
Today's Baisha still retains its simplicity from 20 years ago, with many interesting little shops lining the streets. Sitting in a café in the old town, gazing at the distant snow-capped mountains, it feels like retirement life has already been planned out.
🏔【Off the Beaten Path Recommendations】
1️⃣ Black Dragon Pool Park
No need to wake up early, just 2 kilometers from Lijiang Ancient Town, you can see the stunning 'Golden Mountain by Sunrise' at Black Dragon Pool Park🌅
2️⃣ Qingxi Reservoir
Navigate to Qingxi Park, a little-known spot only locals are aware of, where the reservoir is crystal clear🌊, and you can look up to see the snow-capped mountains.
3️⃣ Zhongji Sea Park
Here, there's a large area of redwood trees, where you can camp and watch the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, very pleasant.
4️⃣ Baisha Old Town
Of the three ancient towns in Lijiang, Baisha is my favorite. It's not very big, but it's not so commercialized. Order a cup of coffee☕️, and you can spend the afternoon watching the snow-capped mountains from the rooftop.
5️⃣ Yuhu Village
Yuhu Village is probably the most characteristic ancient village in Lijiang, built entirely of stone, hidden at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, secluded and hermitic.
6️⃣ Longnu Lake
A small lake at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, with a solitary tree🌳 by the lake, where cattle and sheep graze, as if it's a paradise on earth.
7️⃣ Wenhai
Not Xinjiang, but Wenhai Village in Lijiang, with lakes, grasslands, cattle, and sheep🐑... and the distant snow-capped mountains, like a fairy tale.
8️⃣ Jinta Scenic Area
The free and unmanned Lijiang Jinta, reflecting the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, leaves a deep impression.

"When I first arrived in Lijiang, a park I randomly wandered into amazed me. Entering from the south gate and following the stream upstream, I stepped into a dream. Five years later, I returned, and the landscape remained unchanged." ~ Black Dragon Pool Park is one of my favorite attractions. My first visit to Lijiang (I think it was in 2020) was as a transit point. After landing, I went to Shangri-La and Lugu Lake, and had a free day in between. I entered from the south gate and walked upstream along the stream. The scenery was beautiful, with birdsong and fragrant flowers. Overall, it was less crowded and the scenery was stunning, leaving a deep impression on me. If you also come to Lijiang, you should definitely check it out and try the milk curd cakes at Lijiang Pioneer Bakery.
Heilongtan Park, the poetic and romantic of Lijiang 🌄 Don't miss Heilongtan Park when you come to Lijiang! This trip, Heilongtan Park really brought me too many surprises. 📍 Location and traffic: It is at the foot of Xiangshan in the north of Lijiang Ancient City, and you can find it from the big waterwheel upstream. If you start from the ancient city, walk for about 15 minutes. If you take a taxi, you can get there at the starting price. You can also take bus No. 3 and No. 13 to the neighborhood, which is super convenient. 🌳 scenery: This is simply a treasure of nature. As soon as you enter the park, you can see the crystal clear spring pool, which is the famous black dragon pool. As the source of the ancient city of Lijiang, you can see the spring pillars that gush out of the water by the pool. The spring water is crystal clear. The pure blue-green is like a huge emerald 💎 The park is backed by the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and the picture is composed of the reflection of the snowy mountains in Wukong Bridge, Deyuelou, Snow Mountain and Heilongtan. It's really beautiful to suffocate. Every shot is a blockbuster that can be used as a postcard: the ancient buildings in the park are also worth seeing. Like Wufeng Building, Deyue Building, Feiyu Dou Arch, carved beams and pillars, full of historical charm, Xu Xiake has stopped here. Walking between these buildings, it seems to have traveled back to ancient times. 🎈 Play experience: When I went there were not many people, I could enjoy the scenery leisurely. Come in the morning or dusk, the light is soft, the snow-capped mountains and the pool water are against each other, and it is as beautiful as a fairyland. Friends with good physical strength can also climb Xiangshan, overlook the entire ancient city of Lijiang on the top of the mountain, and feel the fireworks of the ancient city. 💰 Fee: The park is free to enter, but you need to pay the maintenance fee of the ancient city (the specific fee can be understood in advance), but I think this is completely worth it! Heilongtan Park is not only beautiful in nature, but also has a deep cultural heritage. It is a stop that Lijiang travel cannot be missed! 💕 #Lijiang Heilongtan Park #Lijiang Tourism #Yunnan Beautiful View
This park, also known as Black Dragon Pool or Jade Spring Park, is only a 10-15 minute walk from my accommodations (Najia (Nazhu) Snow Mountain View Holiday Homestay. Nestled at the foot of Elephant (Xiangshan) Hill, the park features a crystal-clear jade-green spring pool (~40,000 m²), often reflecting the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Featuring a white marble bridge (Suocui Bridge) and several elegant pavilions: Suocui Bridge, Deyue Pavilion (Moon‑Embracing Pavilion), Wufeng Tower (Five‑Phoenix Pavilion), and the Dragon God Temple (Longshen Temple). Here are a few photos I took during my time there!
【Photography Tips】 1. Suocui Bridge: A classic camera position in Heilongtan, where you can take photos of Deyue Tower, Wukong Bridge and Yulong Snow Mountain opposite the lake. It is recommended to bring a telephoto camera and use a five-fold zoom on your phone. 2. Wanshou Pavilion: There are relatively few people here, so you can sit on a chair and enjoy the coffee aroma and beautiful scenery. Take a blockbuster photo with one click! 3. Wukong Bridge: Feel the charm of Deyue Tower and Snow Mountain up close, and get a photo shoot easily. 4. You can park near the West Gate, enter the nearest camera position from the West Gate of the park, and then visit and check in in a counterclockwise direction. The South Gate is closer to the ancient city, so it is not recommended if you are not driving. 5. Several time points: 🔸Free before 7:30 (it is recommended to arrive 15 minutes in advance, and no tickets are required during the National Day). 🔸Photograph the purple tone of the lights before 7:30 (the purple tone of the sky is quite healing before dawn, and it is recommended to use a tripod and slow shutter speed to shoot). 🔸The sun shines on Jinshan Mountain around 8:10, and it doesn’t last long, about 15 minutes. 6. Be sure to check the weather forecast: You can definitely see Jinshan Mountain on a sunny day.
Lijiang Heilongtan Park, also known as Yuquan Park, is a famous attraction in Lijiang City, famous for its blend of natural scenery and humanistic heritage. The location is located at the foot of Xiangshan in the ancient city of Lijiang, about 1 km from the north gate of Lijiang Ancient City (Dayan Ancient Town), about 15 minutes walk. The park is not big, if you just turn around the lake, an hour is enough. Tickets: free tickets, but 50 yuan for the maintenance of the ancient city. But when we went, we didn't see the ticket check, so we went in. Transportation: about 15 minutes walk from the north gate of the ancient city; the starting price of a taxi can be reached; Bus 3 and 13 can be reached nearby.
20230201pm: 1. "Heilongtan Park" is located on the north side of "Lijiang Ancient Town" and at the foot of "Xiangshan". It is a comprehensive park integrating sightseeing, religion and fitness. It is famous for being able to take pictures of the reflection of "Yulong Snow Mountain" (5A) in the pond. It is also called "Yuquan Park". It has many historical cultural landscapes and is currently a free and convenient park. The park was expanded on the basis of "Yuquan Dragon King Temple". The temple was built in the second year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1737). After being canonized as a dragon god by Emperor Jiaqing and Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Heilongtan. In recent years, Heilongtan has frequently been cut off. Before the cut-off, it was the source of the "Yuhe" water system that runs through the ancient city of Lijiang. The scenic area is divided into two major areas: the bank of Heilongtan and the mountaineering area of Xiangshan. ① Address: No. 1 Minzhu Road, Ancient District, Lijiang City ② Transportation: Direct bus access, and it is also easy to park by car. ③ Peak season: None, all seasons are like spring. 2. I entered from the north gate, and passed by the Lijiang Historical Relief from south to north (the white relief shows the development history of Lijiang, and next to it is the "Yuquan Park Expansion Record" and an open stone carving book), "Wufeng Tower" (also known as "Fayun Pavilion", originally located in "Zhishan Fuguo Temple", the temple was built in the 29th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, that is, 1601, as the villa and ancestral temple of the Mu family chieftain. In the 12th year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty, that is, 1639, Mu Zeng, the most outstanding ruler of the Mu family, invited Xu Xiake, a famous traveler in Chinese history, to stay here for 8 days, and recorded it in "Xu Xiake's Travel Notes". It is now a memorial hall for He Zhiqiang, the former governor of Yunnan Province), "Anti-Japanese National Salvation Memorial" (to commemorate more than 3,000 Lijiang soldiers who joined the army to defend the country during the Anti-Japanese War, more than 1,000 of whom died in the war, while the population of Lijiang was only 100,000 at that time. The names of well-known martyrs such as He Zhongli and Li Rujiong are recorded on the monument) and then arrived at the scenic spot's landmark building "Deyue Tower". 3. Deyue Tower was built in the second year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1876). It is three-story and was designed by Yang Zhaorui, a local of Lijiang Ancient Town, based on the pavilions on the West Lake in Hangzhou. The plaque on the garden was written by Yang Daotian, a teacher at Lijiang Academy and an "honorary Jinshi" in the late Qing Dynasty (his students He Gengji passed the imperial examination and he himself was awarded the title of Jinshi). Deyue Tower was burned down in 1961 (it was rumored that a couple set themselves on fire) and rebuilt in 1964. The plaque and couplet were written by Guo Moruo, a famous modern scholar. The best angles to take pictures of Deyue Tower are the "Five-hole Bridge" on the south side (as the name suggests, it is a five-hole arch bridge with lifelike lions on the stone pillars of the bridge railings) and the "Suocui Bridge" on the southernmost bank. The Five-Arch Bridge is too close and there are ripples on the surface of the pond, so the reflection of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain cannot be photographed. On the Suocui Bridge, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and its reflection, Deyue Tower, and the Five-Arch Bridge can be framed together. To take a clear reflection, you need to lower the lens as much as possible. It is a must-go photo spot. I was lucky that day, and the blue sky and white clouds were especially suitable for taking photos. 4. The "Xueshan Chess Courtyard" on the east bank of Deyue Tower is the "Dragon God Temple" built in 1737. Inside, there are old Lijiang photo exhibitions and a Go room. The open-air areas in the courtyard are full of bonsai. It no longer has the majesty and solemnity of the ancestral hall, but has more of the charm of the Jiangnan courtyard. Next to the south side is the cultural center "Yunmei Baiyuan Art Museum", but there are only a bunch of awards inside... The word count exceeds the limit, and it continues in the last picture.
Taking advantage of today's good weather, I went to Heilongtan with my friends for a scenic afternoon tea; This place is known as the best place to take pictures of the reflection of the snow-capped mountains. It is also the dragon vein of Lijiang and a good place for locals to relax. Drinking a cup of afternoon tea here is so comfortable! 🔸Segugao Teahouse in Heilongtan Park 🔸In the Heilongtan scenic area, you can take bus No. 3 or No. 4 to Heilongtan Station, or take a taxi directly to the gate, or walk from the ancient city; 🔸Heilongtan tickets: free for locals, outsiders need to pay the ancient city maintenance fee before entering; Lijiang Heilongtan is located at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain in the north of the city. It takes about 10 minutes from Sifang Street to the main gate of Heilongtan. Enter along the main gate and walk about 200 meters to the side of the corridor bridge to see the beautiful reflection of Yulong Snow Mountain. Then just walk slowly from the right. If you really have the energy, you can also try to climb Xiangshan Mountain to see the view of Lijiang. Both the new city and the old city are in front of you;
Heilongtan Park is very close to the ancient city of Lijiang. The whole park is built facing the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You can enjoy the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from all angles. In the morning, you can also see Rizhao Jinshan, it is worth a visit
