Church of St. Anthony (Igreja de Santo Antonio)

The church of St.Antonio de Lisboa was built on the site of the family house where Fernando was born, located very close to Lisbon Cathedral. A small underground chapel in the chuch marks the spot of his birth. St Anthony is revered as a matchmaker, protector of young brides and patron of the lost and found, which is why mass marriages known as "St.Anthony's Weddings" are held here during the June St.Anthony's Day celebrations.
