This is my third visit to Kunming. Last time, I mainly visited the Xishan Scenic Area, Longmen Grottoes, and Kunming Old Street. This time, I first checked in to the InterContinental Kunming. It was the Lunar New Year holiday, which was the season to see seagulls. It was so beautiful to walk to the Haigeng Dam by Dianchi Lake to see the spectacular and shocking Dianchi Lake, Xishan Mountain and the seagulls from Siberia. I also visited the Yunnan Museum, Yunnan Nationalities Village, and Guandu Ancient Town. What a wonderful time! I will definitely come to Yunnan and Kunming again if I have the opportunity.
1. Location Convenient transportation, easy to get to from the city center by taxi. When leaving, take the bus from the Xishan Park to the subway station. 2. Scenery The weather was a bit overcast when I visited, and I think a sunny day would have been even more beautiful. However, the sheer size of Dianchi Lake was still quite breathtaking. The cable car ride was quite long, and while the views were indeed more comprehensive, it was mostly just the lake and mountains. It was a great experience with friends. 3. Value For your first time in Yunnan, taking the cable car is a great value. After arriving at Xishan, you can climb the mountain to Longmen and then descend again, and that's pretty much it. The overall experience was excellent.
The whole park is quite large, and you can learn about the houses, architecture, clothing and living habits of various ethnic groups. It's just that renting a car is a bit expensive, so it would be more cost-effective to walk around by yourself
This is a great place to relax. Flowers are in full bloom, trees are shady, and you can see the Dianchi Lake up close and the Xishan Mountain in the distance. It is a beautiful sight. Standing by the lake, holding bird food, watching seagulls flying around chasing food, it is exciting and stimulating! You can deeply experience the organic integration of nature and birds, and the harmonious coexistence of birds and humans!
The scenery is very beautiful and especially cool. Take a walk inside. Now is the season for seagulls. You can come to feed the seagulls and take photos. Take photos of the seagulls in Kunming Dianchi Lake! There is the best time. The army of seagulls in Kunming Dianchi Lake in December is so spectacular. It is really relaxing to come here to feed the seagulls. If you want to see the seagulls specifically, you can choose to live near the Haigeng Dam, which is very convenient. You can see the Dianchi Dam, Haigeng Dam, and Haigeng Park along the way. There are best places to watch the seagulls. You can also go to Dounan Flower Market in the evening. The best viewing time is from 8 to 8:30 in the morning. The seagulls are hungry and the sun is rising. After 9 o'clock, they start to float lazily on the water after eating. From 4 to 5 o'clock in the afternoon, the seagulls should be hungry again and start to be active. At this time, you can take pictures of the sunlight shining on the sparkling Dianchi Lake. After 5:30, the sun sets behind the mountain. If it is later, the seagulls will fly back to the mountain to rest. #KunmingSeagull #Dianchi Lake #Haigeng Dam #SeagullPhotography #Let's See the Seagulls Together
Haigeng Park is a good place to stroll slowly, enjoy the beautiful scenery of Dianchi Lake, drink a cup of coffee or a drink, feel the breeze, sit quietly by the lake, and be in a daze! The lawn in the park is very beautiful, green and very pleasing to the eye. It is suitable for quietness here. If you like to move, it is not recommended to come here. You can go to Xishan opposite Dianchi Lake to play.
Every year from November to March, tens of thousands of Siberian red-billed gulls visit Kunming, providing a unique view of the Spring City. It is said that red-billed gulls came to Kunming for winter, which began in 1986. For unknown reasons, a small group of seagulls flew to Cuihu Lake in Kunming. Kunming people loved and treated these elves very much. They did not hurt them. They took out bread and other food to entertain the guests. The next spring, seagulls flew away. However, it may be that the seagulls remember the warmth and friendliness of Kunming people. When winter comes, the seagulls come back and bring more companions. The Kunming people are happier and devote more hospitality... In this way, year after year, the seagull team is becoming larger and larger, and here the seagull is not afraid of human beings, can be close to people, and even directly from the hands of tourists to get food... In winter, seagulls have become a unique beautiful scenery in Kunming. The main seagull viewing places are Cuihu Lake and Haiyuan Dam in Dianchi Lake. People laugh at them and they fly around the crowd like butterflies. If you come to Kunming during this period, you must come to experience it, buy a pack of food for gulls, hand-feed, take photos, and make sure that you will leave a good memory... The harmony between man and nature has drawn thousands of kilometers away, and this beautiful scene will never cease to circulate...
Haiyuan, as its name implies, refers to a long dike deep into the Dianchi Lake, which divides the Dianchi Lake into two lakes. Now lawns are planted on both sides of the dam, and it's good to visit the lake along the dam. Every winter, Dianchi Lake is a paradise where red-billed gulls live. Feeding birds and watching birds in the park is a popular activity for Kunming citizens. Ridges can be biked, or can be watched on foot! ____________
