Jianshui Excursion Train

A very satisfying train journey through Jianshui Ancient City, Yunnan! Tickets were hard to come by during the summer peak season, but it was definitely worth it! The Jianshui train connects four distinctive stations, allowing you to review Jianshui's development history in half a day. At each station, the train attendants acted as guides, explaining things to passengers and setting clear boarding and alighting times – everything was very orderly. Each passenger received a complimentary piece of lion-shaped cake and bottled water. Excellent service! Five-star recommendation!

It was a very interesting trip. We saw several classic attractions outside the city. Attendant Chen explained the stories behind each attraction, pointed out important information about train travel, and even led everyone on a tour. They also provided a bottle of water and local lion cakes on board. The trip would have been even better if the weather had been better.

We didn't reserve the tickets at that time, and later we went to the window to inquire and found out that the truck was closed for maintenance for one day, which happened to be when we arrived. But what I want to say is that if you drive yourself, there is no need to waste the money. You can stop whenever you want and take pictures of the beautiful scenery, which is much more comfortable than taking a train.

The scenery here is very beautiful. It is a place to experience the old-fashioned train station in the past. When traveling to the ancient city of Jianshui in Yunnan, there are many people visiting here. The small train here can reach many scenic spots, such as the Seventeen-Arch Bridge and Tuanshan Residences. The scenery along the way is good. I still like this Jianshui train. Although it is an old train in the past, the train has been built and decorated with wooden floors. It looks antique and has its own characteristics. Jianshui Railway Station, also known as Lin'an Railway Station, is part of the Yunnan narrow-gauge railway built 100 years ago. There is still a train arriving and departing every day, but it is only used for sightseeing and has lost its actual transportation function. The station building and locomotive warehouse designed by the French are still well preserved, and the railway also retains the narrow gauge. It was not easy to build such a railway in the poor and backward southern Yunnan 100 years ago. Although Jianshui has a new station, the old station can still be preserved intact, which can be said to be a historical luck.

Jianshui Ancient City Tourist Train is a must-visit tourist project when traveling to Jianshui. Many buses in Jianshui pass through the train departure station (the century-old meter-gauge train station), and the departure station (Lin'an Station) is located in the Lin'an Ancient City meter-gauge train theme park. The departure times on non-holidays are one in the morning and one in the afternoon, stopping at Shuanglong Bridge Station, Xianghui Bridge Station, and Tuanshan Station on the way, leaving passengers time to play. Without discounts, the ticket prices are divided into hard seats (120 yuan/person) and soft seats (150 yuan/person). Some large hotels in Jianshui have ticket booking services (tickets booked at hotels cannot be discounted). Tickets can be picked up at any time 40 minutes before departure with the hotel's ticket voucher. The journey time (including Shuanglong Bridge, Xianghui Bridge Station, Tuanshan Ancient Village, Tuanshan Village attractions require separate tickets, and train tickets can be discounted) is about 4 hours. A bottle of bottled water and a small bag of Jianshui snacks are provided free of charge. Walking on the century-old meter-gauge railway, you can appreciate the unique and beautiful historical and cultural tourist landscapes.

The earliest railway built by China, the smallest railway in history, the slowest railway, the longest railway to be built, the only private railway in Chinese history, the only railway that issues currency... These records record a most proud and wonderful legend in the history of Yunnan Railway. This railway named Gebishi has created many miracles and records. A hundred years later, in 2015, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the construction of Gebishi Railway, the Jianshui Ancient City Train, a demonstration project for the protection and development of Yunnan meter-gauge railway jointly cooperated by Kunming Railway Bureau and Jianshui, started running on the meter-gauge railway after the reconstruction of the line between Jianshui East and Tuanshan of Gebishi Railway on May 1. The orange-yellow ancient city tourist train carries heavy historical and cultural values, and is also full of scenery along the way, becoming another golden route for Jianshui Ancient City tourism. The wooden carriages, elegant wall lamps, flowing white screen windows, and even the old-fashioned electric fans above the heads all give people a strong sense of nostalgia. The train combines Chinese and French styles from the Republic of China period, allowing passengers to enjoy the ancient city's scenic spots and rural scenery along the way.

Jianshui Linan-Shuanglong Bridge-Xianghuiqiao-Tuanshan metre track road was reborn because of tourism. The small train "100-year-old golden line, the first car in the ancient city of thousands of years" gives us a chance to experience the slow-moving train on the narrow metre track again. The speed, the track and the goods in a row were once the only secret way to the prosperous world at sea in Yunnan valley.
