Must-read before going to Jeju Island - Detailed explanation of the East
Jeju Island's eastern attractions are concentrated, so if you have less time to play, choosing the east is a good choice.
These attractions are about 50 kilometers away from Jeju City at most, and it takes up to an hour to drive there.
Main attractions include: Udo Island, a solitary island in the sea, with beautiful beaches and coastal roads; beautiful beaches, such as Hamdeok Beach and Woljeongri Beach, with many popular coffee shops next to the beach. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the coffee shop, it's very pleasant to watch the beautiful sea view while drinking strong coffee; spectacular scenery where cliffs and sea meet, such as Seongsan Ilchulbong and Seopjikoji, where you can watch the sunrise early in the morning and the fiery sunset and rosy clouds in the evening. If you're lucky, you can see the performance of Haenyeo; mysterious caves and low flat volcanic craters formed after the volcano cooled down, such as Manjanggul Cave and Sangumburi; forest corridors for those who like to walk and heal, such as Saryeoni Forest Path and Bijarim Road, where you can enjoy the quiet and far-reaching mood while walking in the forest; family activities include Aqua Planet Aquarium, Gimnyeong Maze Park, Snoopy Park and Ecoland Ecological Theme Park, and there are also railway park activities that provide railway bicycles, which allow children to have a happy travel memory.
Personal habits of eastern tourism are divided into two routes according to the route, which is a matter of opinion, and is just a suggestion.
Horizontal line: This route goes from the sea to the foot of Hallasan Mountain, and you can enjoy beautiful beaches, spectacular scenery and rich natural and cultural ecology along the way. Udo Island is the most famous island in the east of Jeju Island, with clear sea water and charming scenery. Bijarim Road is a quiet forest path, suitable for walking and enjoying natural scenery. Snoopy Park is a theme park built to commemorate the cartoon character 'Snoopy', suitable for family play. Sangumburi is a mysterious volcanic crater, where you can watch strange geological landscapes and beautiful scenery. Ecoland Ecological Theme Park is a comprehensive park that combines leisure, entertainment and education. Saryeoni Forest Path is a pleasant walking path, lined with tall cedar trees, very suitable for walking and breathing fresh air.
Vertical line: This route goes along the sea, and you can enjoy the magnificent coastline and charming attractions along the way. Seopjikoji is a scenic spot with excellent natural scenery, with a leisure place with blue sea, black volcanic rock and green lawn, which is one of the places where many locals camp. Aqua Planet Aquarium is one of the top ten aquariums in the world, displaying a wide variety of marine life. Seongsan Ilchulbong is a famous sunrise viewing spot on Jeju Island, where many people come to watch the beautiful sunrise every morning. Gimnyeong Maze is a maze park where visitors can find the exit and enjoy the fun of adventure. Manjanggul Cave is a huge underground cave system, with various strange stone pillars and stalactites inside. At present, only one kilometer of the cave entrance is open, and there are six kilometers long parts in the deep that have not been opened. Woljeongri Beach and Hamdeok Beach are two popular beaches where you can swim, surf and enjoy the fun of sun and sand.
No matter which route you take, you can appreciate the beautiful scenery and unique charm of the east of Jeju Island.
The cave was beautiful inside and I love how it was lit up. There are parts of the cave where you are allowed to walk through and everything is clearly labeled. It does get cold in the cave, so be prepared to bring a jacket. The cave also has descriptions on the different parts and how they were formed. It was fascinating how this cave was formed from lava!
This cave is 7km away, but tourists are only allowed to walk for 1km inside the cave. Depending on the time of visit, the temperature can be quite cold inside the cave. I recommend taking a coat.
Amazed by the lava cave and after abt 30-40 minutes walk, you walk to the end and see a nice lava column. As we went on a rainy day, it was abit slippery so please be careful when you are walking inside. worth a visit when you have time
Wanzhang Grottoes and other melting caves in Jezhou are listed in the World Natural Heritage List. Although I am only a geologist, I have gained a lot today. There are many caves and few caves in the world. The caves are formed by water flowing through rocks, and the caves are formed by magma flowing through them. For example, the stalactites and stalagmites in Benxi Water Cave are made up of calcium carbonate, while the lava stalactites in Wanzhang Cave (Fig. 1) and the pillars (Fig. 2) are evaporated magma condensation and formed under the flow of magma from the upper lava cave, respectively. Note that there are loopholes above the pillars. Fig. 3 The lava flowing stone is the water flowing down the wall by roasting at high temperature. The streamline and wall of Fig. 45 show the change of magma height with the change of volcanic eruption. The tortoise rocks in Fig. 6 are tortoise shell-like rocks formed by falling rocks on the top of the cave, melted by magma at the bottom and kept intact at the top. Stone pillars and tortoise rocks are the representatives of the geological wonders of Wanzhang Grottoes. Because I had worked as a miner before, I brought a headlamp, and it was very powerful. It was very cheap. It bought 2 or 30 on the Internet. Mobile lighting is useless. From Jizhou to No. 201, get off at the entrance of Wanzhang Grottoes. It takes one hour and 20 minutes. There are still 2.5 kilometers from Wanzhang Grottoes. You can walk for 30 minutes or take No. 711 bus.
Tickets 4000won, a few frozen noodles, about 40 minutes to go back and forth, relatively dark, to water heart, the most exciting end of the stone, it is worth a Li.
