Shuzenji is a scenic town, and the Hakoya onsen, nestled in the centre of it is a small, discreetly-placed jewel. There's not much to it. Inside the door is a ticket machine by which you can purch...
It is the only facility at Shuzenji Onsen where you can easily take a day trip bath. I remember that there used to be more, but now this is the only facility. The facilities are only bathrooms and washrooms. It is rare for a facility close to the metropolitan area, and there are no facilities such as shampoo soap in the washroom. Shuzenji Onsen prospered as the oldest hot spring resort in Izu. It seems that there used to be 7 outdoor hot springs, but all the outdoor hot springs are gone. In 2000, the "Kanyu" was ovened with the desire to "enjoy the outdoor hot spring tour again" for those who visit Shuzenji. Outside the hot spring, there was an observatory "Gyokuro" with a height of 12m. Admission was free. You can go inside without taking a bath in "Kiyu".
I was strolling around the hot spring town of Shuzenji along the Katsura River, which runs through the center of the hot spring town. There was Hakoyu on the opposite bank across the Katsura River from Shuzenji and Hieda Shrine. The hot spring is the only hot spring in Shuzenji Onsen. There is an observatory called "Gyokuro" next to the building of the day trip hot spring, so it is recommended to climb up and look at Shuzenji Onsen from above after soaking in the hot spring.
