A visit to Chora Church is something for the more adventurous traveler. Located in the Edirnekapi neighborhood just inside the Theodosian Walls, you can get here by bus or taxi but don't wander too far, because it is not the safest neighborhood. The visit is still well worth the effort. Chora Church houses what is arguably the most extensive and best preserved collection of Byzantine frescoes in Turkey. The walls, domes and archways contain elaborate and colorful renderings of saints, Old Testament Patriarchs and bible scenes. The most moving of these may be the Anastasis--a depiction of Christ rescuing Adam and Eve from perdition.
