Taroko National Park is a well-known nature reserve in Hualien, spanning Hualien County, Taichung City and Nantou County. The park was officially established in 1986. Taroko National Park is characterized by canyons and cliffs, with steep cliffs and quiet scenery. "Taroko Gorge" is therefore listed as one of the eight scenic spots in Taiwan. The geological terrain here, including majestic cliffs, river terraces, open estuary alluvial fans and canyons, meets many items in line with the World Heritage registration standards. The alpine areas in the park preserve relicts of the Ice Age, such as the salamander, showing rich biodiversity. Due to the continuous active uplift of the earth's crust, the Taroko Gorge has formed a thick and majestic landscape. The unspoiled native vegetation and forests provide habitats for a variety of animals, reflecting the uniqueness and richness of the ecosystem. Taroko National Park was therefore selected by the Ministry of Culture as one of Taiwan's World Heritage potential sites and is an ideal destination for nature lovers and ecological researchers.

The best scenery you can get in Taiwan! It is in Taipei and the national park has all beaches and mountains
Every time you need to calm down I love running to Hualien Especially Taroko National Park I never tire of seeing the canyon inside. I'll want to go there after a while
Taroko National Park is suitable for those who like to walk the Trail and admire the beauty of nature, mountains, streams and trees. Take the Tra from Taipei mail station to Hualian or Xincheng and then take a bus or hire a taxi to go to each point in the park. There are almost half fewer buses on weekdays than on holidays. You have to look at the time carefully. The highlights are Qingshui Cliff, Yanzikou Nine Curves Tunnel and Qixingtan Beach with alternating blue and black rocks. The price of the Tra is 440twd per way. If you hire a taxi, 8 hours is 2500+twd. But if you take a bus, the price depends on the location, starting from 15twd to 100twd.
Taroko National Park is the fourth "national park" in Taiwan. It is located in the eastern part of Taiwan Island. It spans Hualien County, Taichung County and Nantou County. Taroko has also become the name of the train. Its main buildings are Changchun Temple, Yanzikou, Jinhong Park, Jiuqu Cave, Cimu Bridge, Tianxiang; the main natural landscapes are cone foot cliff, Liufang Bridge, Dayuling, Buluo Bay, Shakayong Walk, Green Water Confluence Walk, Clear Water Cliff Walk, Baiyang Walk, Sudden Pavilion Walk, Lianhuachi Walk, Golden Canyon. Taroko National Park features canyons and cliffs. In addition, many glacial relics, such as pepper and fish, are preserved in the high mountains of the garden. The genesis of Taroko Park - "6.5 million years ago, the earth's crust was unstable. The Philippine Plate, moving northwest, is pressing towards the Eurasian Plate, gathering energy and searching for an outlet for release. As a result, volcanoes erupted frequently and tsunami waves billowed. After the Penglai orogeny, Hengkong was born as a treasure island in Taiwan. There are mountains, waters, creatures and divine trees on the island. Liwuxi originated from the main peak of Chilai Mountain in central Taiwan, and rushed to the sea from the source of 3449 meters above sea level. For thousands of years, water and stone are entangled with each other. Water as a knife, cut out the steep and magnificent; stone as a material, showing profound magnificence. Taroko Taroko is a language of Taiwanese ethnic minorities - "Great Mountains". The Great Mountains are inhabited by the rainbow gods believed by the Taroko people. We went to Changchun Temple, Shakayi Trail, Tailuge Park. Because the mountain road was closed, there was no way to Yanzikou. The Shakayong stream is short in distance, turbulent in flow and low in sediment content. Therefore, even after a typhoon and heavy rain, the stream can remain clear and blue. The stacked stones near the confluence can be observed here, which is also due to the fact that the rocks do not roll over very long distances after collapse and retain the appearance of huge stones. The water of Shakayi River is clear and blue all the year round. It looks like the secret land of the past. The whole trail stretches along Shakayi River. There are huge rocks on the riverbed. When the river flows through the marble here, it releases the calcium carbonate content, which makes the water of Shakayi River green and blue. The scenery is very attractive. Have you noticed the high and low stones in the stream, their colours, shapes and patterns? Especially after crossing the Tung flower corridor, there are many soft lines on the other side, like a thousand-layer cake, more like running clouds and running water, like the wrinkles carved on hard rocks over millions of years, and like this ancient land, which has been eroded by streams for a long time, unquestionably exposed the secret of the earth millions of years ago. Later, when I drove to Qingqing Grassland, I passed Zhongheng Highway and saw many gravel sections along the way. I knew that if the typhoon weather was still dangerous in Tailuge Park, there were rockfalls, so I had to avoid the rainy season and typhoon weather when I traveled to Taiwan.
Taroko Park is very famous in Taiwan, and people usually arrange to visit it. We also arranged to visit it during our free trip. The park is very large, and we arranged several classic routes to experience the natural scenery of Taroko, to feel the cliffs, cliffs, canyons, continuous and winding cave tunnels, and marble layers. The park is free. The first place we arrived at was the "Eternal Spring Shrine" scenic spot. We saw a road built on the cliff on the opposite bank. There was a building on the top of the high mountain. There was also an inscription of "Taro Changchun" on the cliff. There was also a waterfall falling straight down on the mountainside. The classical Chinese-style shrine was built on the waterfall, which made the strong and majestic cliffs have a "soft" side. Walk across the Changchun Bridge and go down the steps to reach the Guanyin Cave on the opposite side. There is a Guanyin stone Buddha and a full construction map of the highway in the cave. Going along the excavated cave, there is a section of the road excavated along the cliff, and some are caves excavated by humans, and traces of excavation can still be seen on them. Underground undercurrents surge, and you can see them rolling out. The Shakadang Trail is built along the mountain wall. Walking on the trail, you can enjoy the clear green stream, beautiful rock folds and towering forests along the way. Some trails are built along the wall, so you must be careful of the cliffs protruding above your head. The trail is not very long and can be completed in an hour. You can see the high and low stones in the stream. Their colors, shapes and patterns are very special. The rock wall on the opposite bank has many soft lines, like a thousand-layer cake, but more like flowing clouds and water, as if the years have carved wrinkles on the hard rock for thousands of years. The canyon stream gurgles, the vegetation is lush, and you can see many spiders weaving webs, a masterpiece of nature.
Most of Taroko is in Hualien. We were supposed to go there, but the Central Cross-Island Highway was blocked. It was raining heavily. We were supposed to go to Qingqing Grassland from Seattle that morning, but most people went to Taroko to see the snow. The driver said that Qingqing Grassland was a muddy place to walk on. So we followed most people to Taroko. It was getting colder as we went up. It was cold to begin with. As we went up, it started to freeze and snow. The drivers stopped the car to put snow chains on the tires to increase friction. When we got to the top, there was a traffic jam and it was dangerous, so we stopped. We were told that there was a toilet 300 meters ahead, which was about 300 meters. We wanted to go to the toilet, so we had to go up. Every step was difficult, with ice and snow, and our shoes were wet. It felt like we had walked for more than 500 meters before we arrived. It said that the altitude was 3,000 meters. It was really high. The temperature dropped by 6 degrees at 1,000 meters and 18 degrees at 3,000 meters. The temperature below zero was really unbearable. We almost got frostbitten hands. There is a small shop on the top of the mountain. The clerk is very kind and we stayed there to warm up for a while. The toilet is not here, but down the stairs. Be careful. When you come to Taroko, you must bring more clothes, down jackets!
The park is centered on the Taroko Gorge, with secluded canyons, steep cliffs, and steep rock walls. The Central Cross-Island Highway runs through it, and the main landscapes are distributed along a route of about 20 kilometers. It is breathtaking and is therefore ranked first among the eight scenic spots in Taiwan. Entering from the archway of the East-West Cross-Island Highway, you will enter the Taroko Scenic Area. The first place you arrive at is the Taroko National Park Management Office, which is also the Visitor Service Center. It is recommended to borrow a safety helmet here, because there may be flying rocks falling in the scenic area!
Taroko National Park is basically a must-visit place for those who come to Hualien. It is a canyon park with beautiful scenery and good environmental protection. Because there were two consecutive typhoons before we went there, some roads collapsed and have not been repaired. We mainly only visited about five scenic spots such as Yanzikou Trail. It took almost 3-4 hours to see these few. It is best to arrive before 7:30 so that there are fewer people and the sun is smaller. Taroko itself is free, but because it is a large area, people usually choose to charter a car to play. The driver can also serve as a tour guide to introduce local customs and interesting stories. The cost of chartering a 5-seater car for 8 hours is about 2500-3000 Taiwan dollars. 8 hours is enough to move from Taroko-Qingshui Cliff-Qixingtan
