🚴 Cycling Hualien – From Riverside Bridges to Seaside Horizons
#mytraveldiary #cycling #hualientrip #cycling
Hualien is a cyclist’s dream, with scenic routes that weave through rivers, mountains, and the Pacific coast. One of the most rewarding rides begins at Puzhao Bridge, where sweeping views stretch from the emerald riverbanks to the towering Central Mountain Range. The wide, smooth cycling lanes make it easy to ride at your own pace, stopping often to take in the natural beauty.
Continue onward, and the scenery shifts as you approach the coast. A highlight along the route is the Hualien Sailing Launch Ramp & Birdwatching Platform. Here, calm waters reflect the sky, and the open space becomes a haven for birdwatchers. Migratory and local species gather here, offering cyclists a moment to pause, rest, and connect with nature. The gentle breeze and open views make it a refreshing stop before riding further.
The journey culminates at the Hualien Harbor Landscape Bridge, a striking landmark where the city meets the sea. Standing on the bridge, you’ll feel the ocean wind, watch fishing boats glide in and out, and admire the vast Pacific horizon — the perfect finale to a cycling adventure that blends riverside tranquility, wildlife encounters, and coastal drama.

Hualien, with its lack of high-rise buildings and no hustle and bustle, is the perfect place to relax and take a vacation. The tranquility and comfort of Nanbin Park attract many people to come here for vacation. You can often see two or three friends, a family or a couple renting a bicycle here to sightsee along the coast and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
Hualien Nanbin Park is located on the seaside of Hualien City. It is now renamed Pacific Park. There are bicycle paths in the park. You can ride all the way to Taiwan Happy Farm along the coast to the south, and to Qixingtan and Hualien Port to the north. Nanbin Park is covered with green grass and has facilities such as coconut gardens, camping areas, horse riding clubs, children's playgrounds, sea recreation centers and folk villages. It has become the most preferred place for Hualien people to play in the water. After nightfall every day, the Nanbin Tourist Night Market will be here. There are many food stalls in the night market. On holidays, there are constant crowds of people.
The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean, right? This is called a park, but it is just a corner of the Pacific Ocean. However, the scenery is still very good, and the color of the entire Pacific Ocean is dark blue.
Taiwan is located on the Pacific coast, with beautiful scenery. The sea water has a sense of layers from near to far, and gradually drops in depth like a cliff. It is only more than 100 meters near the sea, and suddenly drops to a depth of 1,000 meters a few hundred meters away! So there is a deep blue color. It is strictly forbidden to play in the sea and swim here, otherwise you may never come back! Walk on the shore and relax and keep your face!
Then I called a car to Nanbin Park. Nanbin Park has been renamed "Pacific Park". As the name implies, it is a park beside the Pacific Ocean. The sea here is light blue, the sky is high, the waves roll, people are full of reverie. At the seaside, that is to say, to be dazed. From time to time, tourists riding bicycles pass by and enjoy themselves.
I was so happy! The scenery was so beautiful that I wanted to cry. I suddenly realized that across the bay was the Pacific Ocean! The long coastline really faces the sea, and the spring flowers are blooming. This trip is really worth it!
