Ngong Ping Non-Beginner Scenic Hiking Route
#HongKongHikingRecommendation #DaoWanStoneRiver #LuoHanGorge #DaoWanCliff #NiuTangMountain #BaiELowerTrail #FengGuanNorthRock
This time, I boldly went hiking with friends on a definitely non-beginner route, which is Feng Guan North Rock located on Lantau Island 😎
We first took a bus from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping, then walked from Ngong Ping Piazza along the Ngong Ping Discovery Path to the Phoenix Sunrise Statue. Behind the statue, there is a small trail leading up the mountain. Since there aren’t many signs pointing to the stone river along the way, it’s necessary to pay attention to the map and trail conditions. Of course, having an experienced guide is even better 😉 Dao Wan Stone River is divided into three sections: Lower Dao Wan Stone River, Middle Dao Wan Stone River, and Upper Dao Wan Stone River. Along the way, you will pass Dao Wan Cliff, One Line Sky, and Dripping Water Rock. After climbing through these, follow the North Rock plank trail heading towards the Tree Hole. After taking photos at the Tree Hole, head down towards Luo Han Gorge, then walk along the Bai E Lower Trail to Niu Tang Mountain. After enjoying the sunset there, we walked back to Pak Kung Au to finish the hike 😍
Although this route isn’t very long, it’s not for beginners and is full of challenges, requiring a certain level of fitness. However, there’s no denying there are many beautiful photo spots. If you’re interested in the challenge, remember to prepare well, bring enough supplies, and take proper sun protection measures 😺

There is an air-conditioned public toilet near Ngong Ping Plaza. It is a high-quality toilet, but please note that the tap water is taken from the mountain water. It sometimes has a muddy yellow color and the water supply is insufficient. People who go to the toilet need to pay attention! In addition, the store opposite the toilet has a rare lemonade for sale, but the fish egg siomai sold only leaves an empty stomach. Tourists who want to cure their stomach ache need to bring more budget for food.
Although the Upper Ngong Ping Market encountered heavy fog this time, it was also a good nature experience for children. The Cable Car Discovery Center in the market allows people to learn more about the construction, maintenance and daily operations of the cable car. .
Ngong Ping Plaza is like a large old Chinese-style building. In addition to the twelve statues of gods representing the zodiac, there are also large cows resting and grazing next to it.
Ngong Ping Plaza is located on the top of Lantau Island. There is a market nearby that sells Lantau Island-specific souvenirs and snacks. It is also a place to take the sightseeing cable car, which is very pleasant.
Take the cable car up the mountain, the market is very lively, there are different restaurants and special souvenir shops. You can go to the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery through the market. At the ticket office of the cable car down the mountain, you can exchange coins and choose the pattern to press commemorative coins.
We took the cable car up to Ngong Ping. It was already December and there was a Christmas atmosphere. The whole Ngong Ping Plaza had a quiet feeling. The plaza was not big, and although there were tourists walking around, there was still a feeling of peace and quiet.
Ngong Ping 360 is a tourist attraction on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Ngong Ping Plaza is located on the road where the Ngong Ping 360 cable car comes out. From the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, you can walk all the way to the foot of the Big Buddha. There are shops on both sides of the square. Until the foot of the Big Buddha. Although Ngong Ping Plaza is not big, it is very clean and tidy. There is no random debris on the ground.
This is the only way to connect the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, Ngong Ping Market, bus station, Po Lin Monastery and Tian Tan Buddha. The most eye-catching sign is the tall archway engraved with "Nantian Buddhist Kingdom". From here you can also see the side of the Tian Tan Buddha, which is a good location for taking pictures. Walk along the Bodhi Road with stone statues of gods and stone lotus lanterns to the front of the Buddha. You still have to climb 268 steps to reach the base, which is quite challenging for many people.
