Go boating to Green Egg Island in Hong Kong this weekend and see the most beautiful glass sea!
I had never tried water sports before, but this time I went boating at Green Egg Island near Clear Water Bay, and it was really fun with great scenery! It can be a bit tiring if you’re a beginner and don’t get the rowing rhythm right.
Green Egg Island became popular in Hong Kong during the pandemic, but I hadn’t been there because you have to row a boat. The glass sea there is truly stunning, and swimming or diving lets you see underwater creatures like small fish, sea urchins, and coral—definitely worth it!
This time, I rented a boat from Little Lobster Kayak at Shek O Bay. Their service was very thoughtful; before departure, they sent safety instructions, and when we arrived, they explained the route, wind direction, and rowing posture. The shop also has simple shower facilities. Their service is very attentive.
Starting from Shek O Bay, there are several destinations to choose from, including Green Egg Island, Ngau Mei Chau, and Diu Chung Chau, all with beautiful scenery. Among them, Green Egg Island is the shortest route. Of course, you can also row freely in the sea.
However, be sure to check Hong Kong’s weather on the day of your trip. If there are strong winds or thunderstorm warnings, it’s not suitable to go into the water. Also, pay attention to the time; if you’re going far, you must set off early. That day, maybe because we didn’t get the rowing posture right and faced some headwind, it took us 1 hour and 45 minutes just to get there.
Depart from the shore of Xiangsi Bay and kayak to Green Egg Island. Depending on the weather, sea conditions and personal ability, the journey will take about 30-45 minutes. It is a good place for canoeing and snorkeling, and you can also go to the island to check in for a summer vacation. The array will become very lively. There are many canoe/stand-up paddle board rental shops, choose according to your preference~ Remember to reserve time for your return trip and return the boat on time😎
We took a canoe to Zuoludan Island. Although it was sunny, the scenery was beautiful and we could sit there looking at the sea all day! 👍🏻
From Kengkou Jikou, rent a boat to Qingshui Bay. It only takes 45 minutes to get to Green Egg Island. In this short journey, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the island and snorkel to see many marine life.
