It is located just up Hiwazaka. It started in 1135 when a high priest named Ryoshinin built Kannon-do, and is said to be the oldest shrine in Hokkaido. Although it is a hill, a god related to the sea is enshrined. The shrine itself is not flashy, but the view is good in a place that is up.

It was written on the explanation board by Hakodate City that Kannon-do was the beginning. It is now a shrine, and it was the main shrine in a place further up the Otorii gate. It seemed convenient to worship when walking around Motomachi, but I couldn't see tourists because of the off-season.
