Glasgow Central Mosque

Glasgow Central Mosque is located on the south bank of the Clyde River in Glasgow, England. It was first built in 1984 under the direction of retired businessman and an active community, Mohamed Tushin. The mosque covers an area of 16,000 square meters of wood, and the construction cost is about 3 million pounds, maintaining the traditional Arabic style. Its perimeter is surrounded by gardens and a long row of arched windows, with an arched etched glass door in a flower-like design at the entrance. An eye-catcher in the courtyard is the light tower used for Islamic prayers, and another striking feature is the dome above the main prayer hall, allowing natural light to enter the building. The mosque can accommodate 2,500 worshippers and is currently the largest Muslim community institution in Strathclyde.
