A Half-Day Adventure in Malaysia: Outlet Shopping, Amusement Parks, Casinos, and Cable Cars
Genting Highlands: A Major Resort Destination Just an Hour from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🇲🇾
Genting Highlands is a massive leisure facility featuring casinos, theme parks, hotels, and shopping malls, all in one place!
Here’s a guide to a half-day itinerary (approximately 5 hours) to explore this destination and how to get there.
We started our day by visiting Batu Caves in the morning, then took a taxi (Grab) for about 45 minutes to reach Genting Highlands 🚕.
🌟 For those using buses, you can take a direct bus from KL Sentral, which takes about an hour. Get off at the Awana Bus Terminal and transfer to the cable car to reach the summit. Make sure to book your bus tickets early, as seats for good time slots tend to fill up quickly!
12:00 - Create a Card for Casino Access
To enter the casino, you need to present your passport and create a membership card. A $20 deposit is required per person. Only individuals aged 21 and above are allowed entry, and there’s a dress code (no shorts or sandals), but jeans and sneakers 👟 are acceptable. Admission is free, but large bags like backpacks are not allowed inside.
13:00 - Lunch
Since the area is vast, we recommend dining at a restaurant near the casino. We had lunch at the local restaurant "Madam Kwan," which was incredibly delicious and highly recommended!
14:00 - Enjoy the Casino 🎰
We turned $20 into about $60! Playing just a little was enough for us 😊.
15:00 - Cable Car Ride
From Genting Highlands Summit Station, take the "Awana SkyWay" gondola for about 10 minutes to the base. The gondola ends at Awana Station, which is directly connected to Genting Highlands Premium Outlets. The views were fantastic and made for a fun ride!
15:45 - Shopping at the Outlet 🛍️
Genting Highlands Premium Outlets features around 150 stores, including Coach, Nike, Adidas, and more. The area is very cool, so long sleeves are a must!
17:00 - Return to Kuala Lumpur by Taxi (Grab)
There are also indoor and outdoor amusement parks and shopping malls, so if you have a full day, you can explore even more! Since the area is quite large, plan your schedule carefully to avoid getting too tired 🥰.
*Note: Times are approximate ⏰
Best experience so far. And at the end the surprising Theme park. Best experience.
Recommended. Book dalam beberapa minit, terus dapat tiket. Mudah dan pantas. Tak perlu beratur panjang. Harga pon ada diskaun.
The gondola ride at Genting Highlands was absolutely worth it. You get a stunning view of the forest and mountains all the way up. The cabin was comfortable and the whole ride felt safe and enjoyable. A great experience for families and travelers who love scenic views.
I heard that Malaysians like to go to Genting to escape the heat in summer. The altitude here is about 2,000 meters, and the temperature is around 22℃ all year round, which is quite cool. You can take a bus to Genting, but I recommend taking the cable car. You can also see the beautiful scenery of the tropical rainforest through the cable car, which is quite beautiful. ⏰Operation time: There are 2 stations in the Awana Cable Car. The operation time of the Awana Cable Car is 7:00-23:00. The operation time of the Qingshui Cable Car Station is 8:00-19:00. 💰Cable car ticket price: ordinary seat (opaque bottom): 10 Malaysian ringgits for one way, 18 Malaysian ringgits for round trip. Transparent base: 30 Malaysian ringgits for one way, 50 Malaysian ringgits for round trip. There will be 8-10 people in a cable car. If you don’t have enough people, you must fight. The waiter will take pictures. Although the final photo is not expensive, I still gave up because there are strangers with you. 🎫Ticket purchase method: You can choose to buy at the on-site self-service ticket machine or ticket counter, or you can book through the online travel platform. Take the cable car from Awana Cable Car Station, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the tropical rainforest along the way. After arriving at Chin Swee Cable Car Station, you can choose to get off to visit Chin Swee Cave Temple, and then continue to take the cable car to Awana Cable Car Station, where you can overlook the magnificent scenery of the entire Genting Highlands. Tips: The altitude here is high and the temperature is low, so be sure to bring an extra coat.
The Genting Cable Car in Genting Highlands is known as the fastest cable car in the world and the longest in Southeast Asia. The whole journey takes about 25 minutes and stops at three stations. During the ride, as the cable car slowly rises, Malaysia's unique flowers and plants, various tropical plants, animals and birds will appear in front of you, and you can also enjoy the magnificent scenery of Genting Highlands. It is really worth taking a tour.
The Awana Skyway is a popular cable car system located in Genting Highlands, Malaysia. It provides a scenic and convenient way to travel between the Awana Station and the SkyAvenue Station, near the peak of Genting Highlands Passengers can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and rainforest during the ride.
The red line of the Awana Skyway is known as the fastest cable car in the world and the longest cable car in Southeast Asia. It stops at three stations: Awana Cable Car Station, Chin Swee Cable Car Station, and Awana Cable Car Station. It stops at Chin Swee Cave Temple on the way and you can get off to visit it without any additional ticket fees. You can take the escalator to the temple, but remember to keep the cable car ticket. After the visit, you can use the same ticket to continue to the summit.
Hidden gem kat Genting ni korang kene explore kat bawah bukit tu. View emang lawooo sangat2. Korang kene drive la nk naik sini. jangan naik cable car pulak. nanti x jumpa lah kat mana 😂
