These stones represent the lost lives on which we walk today. Stepping across the cobbles, located where thousands of soldiers actually passed to their doom Poignant and powerful.
An interesting and thought provoking commemoration
The stones are laid out numbered representing the number of soldiers who died on the first day of the battle in WW1. The explanation panel should be closer to the stones.
