Driving from the center of Helsinki, in just one hour, the reinforced concrete buildings in the city have been replaced by forests, and the lake surface in winter has been frozen and covered with snow, leaving large patches of white. Our destination is the dog sledding base located in NUUKSIO National Park. I didn't expect the dogs to run so fast. The sleds were running on the roads in the forest, and the splashing snowflakes hit the face and the camera. This is the fun that only belongs to ice and snow. Dog sledding can be carried out from December to April of the following year. Usually during this period, Helsinki will have thick snow. In other months, when the temperature is suitable, the owner will take the dog for training. On the hottest days in summer, the sled dogs with thick fur are not suitable for exercise, and the owner will take them out for camping and vacation. Driving a sled is also a science, and dogs also need to combine work and rest, so they will be asked to slow down or stop to rest halfway. Sled dogs are naturally active, curious and exploratory, and running is their nature. We chatted around a campfire, grilling cheese and a Sami dough-based food, in an atmosphere that makes strangers get to know each other quickly.
Take a bus from Helsinki and it takes about 2 hours to reach Nuuksi National Forest Park, where you can experience the beauty of Finnish nature with towering coniferous forests, numerous lakes, and ancient cliffs.
The scenery is really beautiful, it is a wild ecosystem that has not been damaged by humans. The air is fresh, the sky is blue and the grass is green. I picked berries on the roadside and they were sour and sweet!
Nuuksio National Park is a wonderful place with beautiful scenery and pristine vegetation.
