Youyicun was named after Jiang Pu, the governor of Hunan Province in the eighth year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1743 AD). He named the site of his newly built governor's office "Youyicun". This official place has flourished since then, gathering century-old famous restaurants such as "Zhongyue Tower" and "Mingming". In 1956, all the restaurants merged into "Youyicun Restaurant". In 1978, the site was expanded and renamed "Changsha Youyicun Restaurant". In 1993, it was renamed "Changsha Youyicun Hotel".
