It was built between the 13th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign (1887) and the 19th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign (1893) in the Qing Dynasty. The forts are all built with sand, stone and cement, and consist of gun positions, barracks and ammunition depots, surrounded by tall earth walls.
