based on 960 reviewsVery well worth a visit BUT can be a pain in the butt to get tickets as they have low support for foreigners passports, English and need to use Wechat Mini Apps. Best and easiest way to get tickets as a foreigner is via Trip.com when they do tickets, sometimes they just point you to wechat mini app. In which case, not much you can do. There is a real crown in the basement which people line up to take photos of and was a crazy highlight of the visit. As well as artefacts from when New China was established. Standing 200 centimeters tall, this seated statue is one of the largest Song Dynasty wood carvings in Chinese museums. The Bodhisattva wears a tall floral crown, her hair tied in a high bun, with large earlobes and full cheeks. Her expression is dignified and serene, her eyes looking down as if compassionately watching over humanity. She is adorned with a necklace, draped in a flowing robe with ribbons around her arms, and wears a long, brightly colored skirt that reaches the ground. Her right hand holds a lotus flower, her left leg hangs down, her foot resting on a rock, while her right leg is slightly crossed, creating an ethereal and otherworldly pose. The carving is extremely fluid and delicate, with even and rhythmic lines. The skin is smooth and full, and despite its age, the painted details on the clothing are still faintly visible, making it an exquisite masterpiece.
Even though I'd done a lot of planning ahead of time, I was still a bit overwhelmed by the size of the National Museum upon entering security. But the good thing was that there were staff everywhere, practically around the corner. I couldn't find the entrance to the underground level at first, so I asked, and later I asked when I rented a power bank [laughing and crying R] But I saw almost everything I wanted to see!! It was incredibly tiring, but where I could speed through the crowds, I slithered through them. If it were less crowded, I might have had more opportunities to take more interesting photos.
The National Museum, formerly the National Museum of Chinese History, is a concentrated display of Chinese history and culture. Many of the treasures of provincial museums are also borrowed or collected here. You can see the well-known national treasures such as the Houmuwu Ding, the basin with human face and fish pattern, the jade burial garment with gold thread, and the four-ram square zun here. If you want to accurately grasp Chinese history and culture in the shortest time, the National Museum is the first recommended place.

The National Museum is worth visiting! It's a good place to bring children and families As the highest historical, cultural and artistic hall in the country, the National Museum has a staggeringly rich collection. From the Taoying Ding in the Ancient China Exhibition Hall to the Houmuwu Ding, the Four-Ram Bronze Square Zun and other bronze artifacts, each cultural relic seems to be telling an ancient story. When you stand in front of these cultural relics that have been baptized by the years, the sense of dialogue with history arises spontaneously, and the excitement is indescribable. In addition to the cultural relics themselves, the layout and lighting design of the National Museum are also very particular, creating an excellent viewing experience for the audience. Here, you can feel that the knowledge in the history textbooks has "come alive", and every stop is an in-depth exploration of history.
If you come to Beijing for tourism, the National Museum of China is one of the must-sees. Especially the underground exhibits, you need at least half a day to see them all. The museum is located on the east side of Tiananmen Square. During holidays, the Tiananmen East Station of the subway usually skips stations. So if you want to come to the museum during holidays, you can only get off at Wangfujing by subway and walk over. Remember to bring your ID card and don't wear slippers, not even sandals. If you really want to wear slippers to enter, you can only buy shoe covers outside, which will waste a lot of time because you have to keep walking. Finally, you must enter the museum at the specified time, otherwise you may not be able to enter. There are really too many people and no one can listen to your reasons for being late.
I visited the National Museum's blockbuster exhibition "The Diversity of Beauty - Art and Life in Ancient Greece" and was deeply shocked by the aesthetics of ancient Greece. The exhibition layout closely followed the theme, with beauty as the main line, showing us the three aspects of the human body, makeup and daily life in ancient Greece. Let us appreciate the persistence and creativity of this country with ancient civilization in beauty. The exhibition hall has more than 2,000 square meters, displaying 279 precious cultural relics such as bronzes, gold ornaments, glass products, murals, sculptures and pottery. Many cultural relics are exhibited outside Greece for the first time. This exhibition will last until June 5th, so hurry up and take advantage of the last minute.
