Exploring Lijiang: The Most Romantic Ancient Town.
“✨ Lijiang is a dreamlike ancient town in Yunnan Province, brimming with the charm of traditional Chinese architecture, crystal-clear streams winding through narrow alleys, and vibrant red lanterns.”@โบ๊ะ บ๊ะ · 6 days ago
Yunnan is one of China's most beautiful regions, in my opinion, and the Yulong Snow Mountain is for sure one of its most iconic highlights.
Usually I like visiting independent different attractions or landmarks but this time the itinerary was a bit complex (the timing was very important in order to reach all points) and I also never been to such a high altitude. As you can guess I end up chosing an organized trip for a carefree experience, and I can further recommend it as the driver was providing us with very detailed information and useful advice for handling the possible altitude sickness both during and after the trip. (They also provided jackets in the morning for the cold, portable oxygen bottles and lunch, so it was a complete service.)
I didn't use any supplemental oxygen, but I really took my time while climbing the stairs to reach the 4680 platform. I recommend everyone to be cautious and not to push themselves: take it slow if you have a good breathing technique, use the oxygen can if needed or if you symptoms are severe return to a lower altitude as soon as possible.
As for the visited places, really nothing to skip. The Blue Moon Valley, the Glacier Park, and the Impression Lijiang are all stunning.
I saw all that without any special planning of my own or much time spent on research, so it is true, sometimes an organized trip really is the best option.

I came to Cangshan (苍山) with fairly modest expectations, but the scenery completely blew me away.
I started by taking the Ximatan (洗马潭) cableway, which brought me close to the summit. The views from the top were spectacular, with the mountains and surrounding landscape stretching out below. After exploring the Ximatan area, I began my descent and took on a roughly 7 km hike towards Zhonghe Temple (中和寺).
The hike turned out to be one of my favourite parts of the experience. The trail was refreshing and peaceful, and surprisingly, there weren't many people around despite visiting during the August peak season. Being able to walk through the mountain scenery without the crowds made the experience feel even more special.
I eventually reached Zhonghe Temple, where I took the open-air gondola down the mountain. It was a great way to end the journey and offered yet another perspective of the surrounding landscape.
Cangshan was definitely one of those places that exceeded my expectations. If you're visiting Dali, I would highly recommend going beyond the cableway and exploring the mountain trails; you might find the quieter journey down to be just as rewarding as the summit itself.
