Nice during the December period. Less crowded and enjoyable.
This was my second visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Panda Breeding. The first time was two years ago when I spent two hours queuing to see Hua Hua. This time, I went straight to Xingxing's maternity ward to see the level 25 panda cub, Xiao Huihui. The base is huge; if you want to see everything, you should take the shuttle bus.

Check out Du Fu Thatched Cottage! Passing through the rustic wooden gate, a thatched pavilion nestled among bamboo groves houses the inscription "Shaoling Thatched Cottage," while the statue of the poet saint in front of the Grand Hall is both solemn and approachable. Every blade of grass and every tree is imbued with the charm of Tang poetry, as if you can hear the recitations from a thousand years ago—it's definitely worth it.
If you are a Chinese literature and poetry buff this is a place that is a “must visit”. Walls adorned with poetry and beautifully manicured gardens. Grounds are walkable and accurately reconstructed according to Du Fu’s poetry and writing. for families with young kids with a limited grasp of Chinese and Chinese literature (such as mine) - I would strongly strongly suggest going to People’s Park instead. Nevertheless, we burned many calories carrying the youngest one around the gardens while we dragged the rest behind us on a frosty cold morning. 😬 Tips: the map was not accurate and made us quite confused. audio guides not helpful as there were English translations on the boards for most areas. As of December 2025 - there is massive construction going on at the main road around this site - good luck trying to get your didi driver to drop you at the correct spot. 😵‍💫 on the bright side there will be a new subway hopefully by 2026! Chengdu progresses at an impressive pace.

Buying ticket from trip.com was no hassle at all , buy and go . Like the way trip.com handle it’s system .
It was pretty good. We took a sightseeing bus and a cable car up, and then hiked for 20 minutes from Leidongping to the Golden Summit! We stayed overnight and got up early to watch the sunrise, which was spectacular and breathtaking!

The Wuhou Temple is definitely worth visiting. I went there with a sense of reverence because I love reading "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and admire Zhuge Liang. I saw the two memorials to the emperor, many rubbings, and statues of Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, and many other heroes of Shu Han. The environment inside is also quite nice, and many tourists were taking photos.
I visited Wuhou Temple again, and this time I decided to immerse myself in the experience. I hired a professional guide, and Director Ding handled the nearly 3-hour tour with ease. He explained the history, debunked myths, and even prepared a lot of materials himself. It was a very informative afternoon!

This is my second time visiting the Giant Buddha! Compared to my first visit, the facilities and staff management in the park have improved significantly! The cultural and creative products inside the park are also excellent!
Built during the Tang Dynasty over 91 years, this colossal Buddha statue, a testament to the painstaking efforts of countless artisans, is truly awe-inspiring in its majestic form and solemn expression. Buying tickets and entering the park is very convenient – excellent!

The autumn break brought an insane number of people; it was so crowded you could barely move. The scenery was just heads everywhere. Although it's a Taoist holy site, the level of commercialization far exceeded my expectations. The cultural aspects probably require explanation; simply visiting doesn't offer much of an experience. However, the scenery on the back mountain is truly beautiful, and the entrance fee is only 20 yuan. Compared to that, the front mountain seems like a poor value for money.
Qingcheng Mountain has beautiful scenery. On a sunny day, the sun shines brightly, and the scenery is stunning. You can take the cable car up and walk down. I'd love to go again sometime, though it's a bit tiring on the legs. It's important to exercise more and get out more often. The air in Qingcheng Mountain is truly excellent; I highly recommend a visit.

As the saying goes, "There's no other cave like Zhijin Cave," you have to see it for yourself to know how breathtaking it is. It's best to bring a bottle of water and a thermos. The walk takes about 2 hours.
There weren't many people in the afternoon, and you can spend one to two hours exploring the cave. The many giant stalactites are truly spectacular. There are quite a few steps, so even elderly people can walk up them slowly.

It's a bit chilly this time of year, but the scenery is still beautiful. The lake water is azure, and a stroll along the shore under the warm sun is very pleasant. Many migratory birds are spending the winter in the lake.
Driving around Lugu Lake was so comfortable! The roads were easy to drive on, parking was convenient, and it was truly a paradise on earth. We took a boat from Puluo Wharf and saw the morning mist. The locals were all very friendly. The stone pot fish was delicious, and the apples were also very tasty.

The performance was excellent, the actors gave a very dedicated performance, and there were no flaws throughout the 70-minute show. Buying a VIP ticket and sitting in the front row allows you to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture up close, which is highly recommended.
Because the time was uncertain, I didn't book tickets in advance and bought them on-site, so my seats were towards the back. The performance was fantastic, especially the face-changing and interactive segments—absolutely amazing! 👍 The 70-minute show included martial arts performances, rod puppetry, long-spouted teapot kung fu tea, diabolo, leather-bound lantern dance, water sleeve dance, hand shadow play, face-changing, and fire breathing—great value! Definitely worth the time to experience!!

Chengdu's Wenshufang, located at No. 66 Wenshuyuan Street in Qingyang District, is a national AAAA-level open-air historical and cultural district built around the ancient Wenshuyuan Temple. Admission is free and the area is open 24 hours a day, though it's recommended to plan a three- to four-hour visit. The district's architectural style is inspired by traditional western Sichuan courtyards, with blue tiles, white walls, and carved eaves. This creates a unique "courtyard-style commercial street" feel, earning it the nickname "Chengdu's Double Embroidery"—the sound of Buddhist chants echoes within the red walls, while the bustling market life unfolds beyond. Wenshufang's core identity can be summarized as "Zen culture combined with traditional Chengdu folk customs." Within the district, there's a temple every 100 steps and a pagoda every 1,000 steps. In addition to Wenshuyuan Temple (built in the Sui Dynasty and inscribed by Emperor Kangxi), the district also preserves the remains of the "Nine Palaces and Eighteen Temples," including the Five Mountains Palace, Lengjia Nunnery, and Aido Hall. This area boasts the most concentrated religious and cultural heritage in Chengdu's old city. Building on this foundation, the neighborhood has incorporated elements such as the "Empty Forest Zen Road" market for Zen-inspired goods, the "Manjusri Blessed Land" cluster of protected courtyards, the "Folk Old Street" offering intangible cultural heritage crafts, the "Chengdu Salon" teahouse featuring antiques, calligraphy, and paintings, as well as the "Old Chengdu Food Court" and "Tianzi Food Hall." This all-in-one experience combines incense worship, Hanfu travel photography, gaiwan tea, Sichuan Opera face-changing, and century-old snacks (such as dragon wontons, Zhong dumplings, and Lai glutinous rice balls). The atmosphere is enhanced by the lighting of lanterns at night. Wenshufang is a free historical district offering the most concentrated and convenient experience of old Chengdu: burning incense, enjoying vegetarian food, drinking tea, watching opera, strolling the ancient streets, enjoying snacks, shopping for cultural products, and photographing Hanfu costumes. For a quick experience of slow living and the essence of Zen, simply add this area to your half-day itinerary.
Enjoy an authentic Sichuan opera performance at the Liyuan Guildhall while sipping large bowls of tea. The show consists of nine performances, and the finale, the face-changing, was the most memorable. The 70-minute performance was packed with action and highly recommended.
