Autumn may be late, but it's here! I decided to take a trip this weekend; I've especially loved autumn in southern Anhui these past two years. A recommendation from Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform) is to stay in Hongcun to fully appreciate its charm, especially in the early mornings and evenings.
I'd been wanting to visit Hongcun for a long time, and it was definitely worth the trip. The scenery was like a painting, bathed in warm autumn sunshine. Every step revealed a new vista, and every ray of sunlight shining on the black tiles and white walls was poetic. Not only was the scenery beautiful, but the area was also meticulously maintained, making it a perfect destination for the whole family.

The staff at the entrance were very welcoming. The ancient village streets were clean and tidy, with a rustic and tranquil environment. Faded couplets, colorful lanterns, and a strong sense of community filled the air. Fields were right next to the village, and elderly people were basking in the sun and chatting on stone benches. There was a huge scarecrow in the fields… It's definitely worth a visit.
Xidi has fewer people than Hongcun, but the scenery is more abundant. Besides the Hui-style architecture, there's a large autumn drying field, where the golden leaves are especially beautiful. The ticket price is worthwhile, the food is delicious, and the parking lot is spacious. The scenic area is very well maintained. Highly recommended!

A very beautiful place, I will come again. A very comfortable town with a Yin-Yang Bagua (Eight Trigrams) design, very beautiful. The autumn harvest is beautiful. Every night there are fish lanterns and fireworks displays, very impressive and magnificent.
Surrounded by eight mountains, with its white walls and black tiles reflected in the water, this is the "Number One Village in Jiangnan" described by Zhu Xi, an ancient village with a history of 1800 years. The fish lantern parade at night adds a unique charm to the cultural atmosphere here.

The touristy, man-made photo spots are all the same across the country. Also, while public transportation is cheaper than cable cars, all the road signs point to the islands, and there are no public transportation signs.
The cable car, Qiyun Mountain, and Qiyun Town are three separate systems. You need to choose carefully whether to stay on the mountain, at the foot of the mountain, or nearby. The scenery is breathtaking, needless to say. All three systems require an entrance fee; check for combined tickets.

Huizhou Ancient City, one of China's four ancient cities, is not large in area but has the characteristics of Huizhou-style architecture. The prices in the ancient city are not high. There is a government office and a museum. It is very interesting to stroll around the small streets and alleys!
It's a very lively scenic area. The outside is free, but it's become quite commercialized. You need to buy a ticket to enter the government office (州衙). Inside, you can climb the city walls and see the gardens. The government office itself is quite nice, and there are even court trial performances, so it's worth watching.

Huangshan Huixiu is a performing arts city jointly invested and built by Zhejiang Show Performing Arts Group and Huangshan Tourism Development Co., Ltd. It integrates theme performances, sightseeing and leisure, parent-child entertainment, catering, tourism and shopping. It showcases the natural beauty and cultural charm of Huizhou with three theme spaces: the large-scale tourist performance "Huixiu", the "Twelve Hours of Huizhou" on Shijing Street, and Neon Street.
Good reviews, good reviews, this venue is great! The space is bright, the facilities are brand new and complete, and the hygiene is spotless. The staff is enthusiastic and professional, and the response is timely. The experience is full, highly recommended!

I was truly amazed by Xixinan!! More pristine than Hongcun, more tranquil than Xidi, and best of all, it's free! Discovering this verdant wonderland at the foot of Huangshan Mountain feels like stepping into a poetic painting of ancient Huizhou.
Xixinan Village in Huangshan City is located in Xixinan Town, Tunxi District, Huangshan City. The Hangzhou-Huangshan High-Speed Railway and the Hefei-Fuzhou High-Speed Railway cross the border through the village, making it the closest ancient village to a high-speed rail station in Huangshan City and even in the entire province of Anhui. Although Huangshan North High-Speed Railway Station has been open for ten years, the village still retains its pristine environment, permeated with a quaint atmosphere and a secluded charm. Xixinan Ancient Village is a great first or last stop on a trip to Huangshan, offering a truly authentic and pristine Huizhou experience. Shanyejun shares some simple travel tips for Xixinan Ancient Village for your reference! 1. Tickets: Xixinan still has many villagers living there, and commercial development is relatively underdeveloped, so there's currently no entrance fee. 2. Visiting Season: Late spring, summer, and autumn are the most beautiful seasons in Xixinan. In late spring, in late March, you can admire fields of rapeseed blossoms. In summer, you can enjoy a Wizard of Oz-like atmosphere and sea of clouds. Autumn is truly a dazzling spectacle. 3. Accommodation: Xixinan is currently not very commercially open, so there are only a few B&Bs and farmhouse inns to choose from. However, nearby Changlin Village offers dozens of inns. 4. Dining: The village offers numerous farmhouse restaurants and farmhouse inns, all serving authentic Anhui cuisine at very reasonable prices. Many restaurants offer prices under 50 yuan per person, so dining in Xixinan Village is a good option. 5. Transportation: The Huangshan Tourist Bus runs through Xixinan from Huangshan North Station, Shexian North Station, and Shexian City. Fares are based on distance, for example, a ticket from Huangshan North Station to Xixinan costs 4 yuan. Huangshan North Station is about 5 kilometers away from Xixinan. If you like hiking or have good physical strength, you can try hiking from Huangshan North Station to Xixinan Ancient Village and back. Along the way, you can see the high-speed rail passing by. The interesting scene of the high-speed rail entering the ancient village is very interesting.

Tunxi Old Street was very popular. I sampled the local snacks, strolled around Liyang across the river, and took a boat trip in the evening to enjoy the light show on both sides of the river. It was a very relaxing experience.
It's a truly worthwhile experience! Listening to Master Yang Wen discuss the history of Hui brushes and admiring the collector's-level brushes he personally crafted was a truly rare and privileged learning experience! It was especially fun for the children to make their own Hui brushes, and Master Yang Wen even personally engraved the brushes for us, which was incredibly meaningful! Highly recommended!

It is worth visiting the small town, which has traces of local people's lives, beautiful lanterns worth remembering, and occasional small performances. It is a small town full of sincerity. I was fortunate to participate in a Hui-style water wedding.
The Yi County government is located in the ancient city, which is rare. It looks better when the lights are on at night. There is nothing to see in the county town, but it is also nice to visit the ancient city. Hui 3 said that the ancient city store is really good and cost-effective

It is a place worth recommending. There are national style non-legacy performances, which are very shocking and magnificent. The fireworks show is also very beautiful. The dazzling fireworks across the river are very smart and beautiful.
A newly built Hui-style town at the foot of Mount Qiyun. The town integrates hotels, food, intangible cultural heritage and recreational projects. It is very good to stay for two days, stroll around the town and climb Mount Qiyun. The town itself is free, and the performances are also free. It takes 30 minutes by taxi from Huangshan North Station, and the fare is about 80 yuan. The town is very quiet on weekdays, with fewer tourists. There are more people on Fridays and Saturdays, and there are Hengjiang Golden Dragon Dance and fireworks shows on Friday and Saturday nights. There are also various other performances on weekends, see P15 for details. There is a Chinese Herbal Hall in the town, which uses Chinese medicine to make drinks, which is worth a try. There is also Jiaxi Nian Dumplings. The handmade dumplings made by the boss lady are large and full of fillings, and they are delicious. There are also Fanji Shaobing and Hot Jiuniang, which are very good. There are three resort hotels in the town, Baiyue + Xiangfului + Yuehua, which belong to the same group. Among them, Baiyue and Xiangfului are very close to the Hengjiang Bamboo Raft Pier and the mountain cableway, while Yuehua is very close to the tourist center. To watch the iron flower and fireworks show, you have to go to the tourist center. To watch the Hengjiang Golden Dragon Dance, you can go to the Hengjiang Bamboo Raft Wharf. It is recommended to go to Dengfeng Bridge and stand on the bridge to watch. The intangible cultural heritage display includes iron painting, shadow play, paper cutting, etc. Among them, the shadow play touched me. There are four performances every afternoon, each half an hour. The one I went to had only four audiences, and the master and apprentice who performed it still completed the performance very seriously. Even after the performance, they invited us to the backstage to explain the production of shadow puppets and teach us how to operate them. The younger apprentice said that there are very few young people who like shadow puppets now, and even fewer who want to learn. We are very happy that you are interested. I felt so sad that I wanted to cry. As an intangible cultural heritage, it is of great significance to pass it on, and it needs more powerful publicity and support.
